Paid Members Tommy! Posted January 23, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 23, 2017 Reg Varney was the first man to use an ATM, and bloody happy he looked about it too. Â
Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2017 He did well to last this long, he was close to being a goner when a tree fell on his car all those years ago. Â Yeah, "Allo Allo" was never the same after the hurricane and tree going through his car window carry on. Kaye was never the same. All his lines were in slow-motion. Should have probably stopped it for his own sake and dignity. I remember watching this odd 70s film were Rene's wife played a lesbian and she had a lot of hardcore-ish scenes in it, which fecking repulsed me to be honest. A few of the "German" lot appeared in "Video Nasties" too, which was a "no-no" back then. Maybe BBC weren't aware of it. Â I remember watching the pilot of "Allo Allo" and the programme was as straight as an arrow. No comedy whatsover. Treated as a serious drama and Gordon Kaye wasn't playing Rene. Some French lookalike was. Â How can you slag off "Howards Way"?!?!? Theme song was belting. Again by the "Simon May Orchestra" like "Eastenders".. Â Â Reg Varney probably showing off his pin number there.
mikehoncho
 Just came up on my Twitter feed that Gorden Kaye has passed.  Never did understand how Rene was considered such a God to all these women in Allo Allo!  Have you seen the men who were portrayed as male leads in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Sid 'Bollock in a bonnet' James and these two fellas    Jeebus, the one on the right (Bob Grant) was going all-out Savile in that eh?  Child catcher & Savile all in one!!  Rust in piss Ronay.  'Allo 'Allo was compulsive totty viewing in the mid-late 80's for a lad who liked the saucy waitress look. Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2017 Baz, are you talking about the film Sex Clinic? That was a real scandal at the time, mostly because the producer were Hazel Adair and... Kent Walton!

Paid Members Surf Digby Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2017 RIP. Allo Allo was an amazing show, one of the best British sitcoms ever.I worked my way through the boxed set a couple of years ago. The last couple of series are utter gash, and there's a steady decline once they lose Captain Hans and Maria, and especially when they change the actor that plays Herr Flick, but the first couple of series are cracking. The scene where Rene meets Gruber for the first time is fantastic. Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted January 24, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2017 One of the biggest culture shocks I ever experienced was seeing Gruber on Seinfeld, interviewing Elaine for a job with his publishing company. It's like if got a pair of painters in to do the lounge, and it was Coy and Vance Duke.
Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted January 25, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted January 25, 2017 Baz, are you talking about the film Sex Clinic? That was a real scandal at the time, mostly because the producer were Hazel Adair and... Kent Walton! Â Yeah, you're correct. Available on Amazon. NOT SAFE FOR WORK! On a double bill with "Spaced Out", which is decent in a 70s funky, disco, softcore porn kind of way. Guy that played the main geeky guy jumped off a cliff in Spain a few months ago, so that'll bring it down a bit. "Sex Clinic" and "Spaced Out" are two totally different type films. Ones "fun" sex and the other is "depressing" sex. A bit odd sticking them together on a DVD.
