Still alive.

Went the year fully employed. Not a sniff of a relationship development in truth ; spent 3 weeks thinking a newbie at work was single and decided she was perfect and that I loved her, then found out she had a fella. Reverted to "given up."

Did a 5K "run" as part of Movember. Charity and that.

Watched some wrestling.

Ehhhhhhhh.

Had a pretty surreal year.

2016 has been the first year in many where I didn't have to sign on, and have found steady employment working in various libraries around my city.

I found a new hobby that I'm passionate about (Retro Games Hunting/Collecting). It's one of the few things I have in life that makes me happy.

And I've finally taken the plunge and have started to train as a pro wrestler. I have great knowledgeable coaches, and I'm training with a bunch of good people. I'm really enjoying it.

So yeah, the best year of my adult life so far. Sucks a couple of idols of mine have gone, but a tremendous year other than that.

My darts game has massively improved as well, entering some opens next year. The change to a 25g torpedo dart with an extra short carbon fibre stem and a grip factor of 2 under the scale used by Red Dragon has made a massive difference suiting my technique of floating rather than throwing darts, rather than my former parallel 27g, medium aluminum stems with knurled points and 4 Grip. I might go to a grip of 1 but atomised. I dunno.

Good arrows.

Politically 2016 has gone to shit but in truth personally it's been one of the best years of my life. Got married in August and that really was the best day of my life, everything was even better than I could've ever imagined. Also quit my job and started retraining as a teacher which, whilst demanding, has been tremendously rewarding. Started a podcast with my mates which has been steadily growing, went to the Championship playoff final (bah) and am currently sipping a beer in a five star resort in Dubai on honeymoon courtesy of my folks.

Oh, and Pokémon Go came out, which has occasionally forced my lazy arse to walk around somehow. So cheers, Niantic.

Had an amazing year, really, probably my best year yet. Either that or 2001, which featured a lot of achievements and fun events but without the adult responsibilities.

Anyway, my 2016:

-went to UFC in Brisbane. Flew up from Sydney, went to the show, and flew home in a 24 hour period. Got floor seats and met a few UFC stars, most notably Bruce Buffer.

- gained a lot more work. Just as a substitute teacher, but day to day casual wages are excellent.

-Moved out of home at the very end of '15, so this was my first year of real independence- funny how that coincided with the best year of my life happening. Just living in a cheap unit, but it's very spacious, great Internet connection, good location, and just having my own space is fantastic.

-went to Adelaide. Very nice city. Was just a weekend in July, but I spent it with a good friend that I hadn't seen in a year.

-attended a WWE house show in Sydney. Not the first year for that, but seeing AJ Styles and Lana in person for the first time made it memorable.

- travelled to America for the first time. Went with my best mate during the school holidays. Hit LA, Vegas and New York, and finished the trip off by attending New York Comic Con, where I met Ric Flair and Jessica Nigri.

-went on a comedy cruise ship and did stand up comedy for the first time in front of an audience of a few hundred. Nerve-wracking but a lot of fun and something off the bucket list.

-saw NXT live in Sydney. Best atmosphere I've experienced at a wrestling event, especially with Roode and Nakamura's entrances. Witnessed a couple of great matches in DIY vs Revival and Asuka vs Ember Moon

-At the tail end of the year, I won $18 000 on the pokies. Used a good chunk of it to buy a travel package for Wrestlemania 33, which will be the first televised event I've ever attended.

- This week, I signed a contract to be a high school maths teacher next year.

So yeah, my 2016 was fantastic, and 2017 looks to be following suit. :)

Shit year really. My wife had a cancer scare, my dog died, my parents split up after 34 years of marriage, my daughter has had the flu it seems like every other week and I'm currently recovering from knee surgery.

My daughter's birthday in November was a bright spot and Christmas is at least ending the year on a good note but in general 2016 can piss right off. I'll be glad to see the back of it.

I've calmed down and got a lot of things in my personal life in check this year, which is what my main plan for the year was. Cut down on the drinking a lot, maybe drank twice in about 90 days. Haven't 'done' much in some ways but I hope I'll look back on 2016 as being a transitional year where I did a lot of growing up/calming down.

Just moved into a nice new place (why I haven't been on here much lately) and met a girl who is absolutely gorgeous, talented and has a great personality. We're not together yet but that's what I'm hoping for ultimately. Going to have a quiet Christmas, and I'm looking forward to a lot of things for the new year.

Are you specialising on any one system or just a bit of everything?

Anything for N64, SNES, PS1 and 2, and the Mega Drive at the moment. I can't find a NES for a good price anywhere :(

Gumtree and Facebook pages will be your best bets unless you've got a good car boot nearby. A Boxed NES should set you back no more than £70-80 in good nick. Good sets to go for though, lots of it still about, N64, SNES and PS1 are pains if you like stuff complete, given their cardboard boxes/eggshell cases.
