Paid Members Gus Mears Posted November 28, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted November 28, 2016 Quicky Koala featuring the Bum Hole Brothers was the worst thing Hanna Barbera put their name to. Ungodly bad. Â Does anyone remember the Robotic Three Stooges? I never have met anyone else who has, so quite where Dad got his bootleg copy featuring that and episodes of Rick I don't know. Nothing exemplifies a divorcee parent week end more than that fucking tape. "Dad, can we go to the cinema?". "No, I'm skint, watch this instead, it's definitely better than Space Jam". Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted November 28, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted November 28, 2016 Jesus, that's an obscure one, Gus. I had heard of the Robonic Three Stooges, in a timeline of everything Hanna Barbera had produced, but I can't believe you had the actual tape. What's Rick? Â Anyone remember Filmation's Ghostbusters? They'd produced an excruciating live-action show in the 70s, and dusted off the concept when they (allegedly) got stiffed over producing the cartoon version of the 80s movie. I remember absolutely loving it when I was on a shit holiday in Corfu in about 1987, I wonder how it holds up now.
Merzbow
Not a cartoon, but another show I only saw through a haze of waking up at 4am on a Saturday in 1986 was Quaq Quao — I was sure that no-one else had ever seen it, but in the mid 2000s I always used to run into this dull Aussie bird at the same events, and the only thing we "bonded" over was that we'd both seen Quaq Quao. I swear she opened at least two conversations with "seen any more Quaq Quao?".  Is this any relation to Mio Mao? Very similar vibes.

RIDDUM_N_STYLE
I tuned into the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon the other day and they now seem to be based on a spaceship with a quirky robot companion. I haven't watched much of this version of TNNT but from what I've read up, they are only on the spaceship with Fugitoid for the first 13 episodes of this current season, the show has recently introduced the Super Shredder not seen since the second 90s film

I'm on my phone so cant, but there are some episodes on YouTube if you really feel like self-mutilating this evening. I haven't a clue where my Dad bought this bollocks. That, random Father Ted episodes, races from Grand Prix seasons in the late 80's, that episode of Morph that he'd accidentally taped over with soft-core pornography. Paid Members Teedy Kay Posted November 28, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted November 28, 2016 Ox Tales is one show that in my circles I am the only bugger to remember. I get exceptionally strange looks when explaining the show and that there was a gorilla character called Gay Lord.

Of all the times to watch, trust my luck to go and catch it in that one little standalone quarter-year of programming.
patiirc
Eeeh Nostalgia, good to see shouts for Ox Tales, Samurai Pizza Cats and Potsworth... Â It's stuff like The Mighty Orbots, Moschops, Earthworm Jim, and Fantastic Max that get lost in the mix. Â Add to that the usual array of Thunderbirds 2086, Diplodos, Bionic Six, Sports Billy, Pacman and yeah lots of one hit or, rather cheap imports that made up the numbers
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted November 28, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted November 28, 2016 Sport Billy was truly dire. I had a 1984 World Cup SB shirt, so I assume I was a fan then, but trying to watch It back is a chore.
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted November 29, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted November 29, 2016 They used to show some worker and parasite looking foreign animation about a little chimney sweep at seemingly random intervals on one of the terrestrial channels in the evenings when I was a kid, that seems to be largely forgotten. One of my fav themes ever: https://youtu.be/hGkvaIbcbkI  I'm a big fan of 30's style cartoons, which usually feature an obvious or hidden message. Two of my all time favs are: Small Fry: https://youtu.be/VXrCMDoQbtQ  and Play Safe: https://youtu.be/AUrOCEt3Olo  both of which were on a crackers 80's cartoon classic VHS. Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted November 29, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted November 29, 2016 It's in no way obscure, but I want to make sure that there isn't anyone that's failed to see The Dover Boys at Pimento University. Â
