On the eve of UFC 206, Friday 9th December, we return to the concrete jungle that is New York with this Fight Pass show in Albany...

FIGHT PASS MAIN CARD

Derrick Lewis vs Shamil Abdurakhimov

Francis Ngannou vs Anthony Hamilton

Corey Anderson vs Sean O'Connell

Gian Villante vs Saparbek Safarov

FIGHT PASS PRELIMS

Juliana Lima vs JJ Aldrich

Randy Brown vs Brian Camozzi

Joe Gigliotti vs Gerald Meerschaert

Trevor Smith vs Andrew Sanchez

Tiago Trator vs Shane Burgos

Frankie Perez vs Mark Diakiese

Keith Berish vs Ryan Janes

Justine Kish vs Ashley Yoder

As usual with the Fight Pass shows, we should be getting those top four fights live on BT Sport.

I really like the look of this show. Main card especially is pretty sweet, I think. I like that they've loaded it up with big monster cunts as well. Can see this being a very short main card, actually.

Black Beast vs Abdurakhimov is a fight I'm all excited about. The Black Beast is back! And he's coming to knock heads clean off. Lewis has quickly become a UKFF favourite, and rightly so. He fucking terrifies me, if I'm honest. I honestly think he could unscrew my head from my neck like I was a bottle of Fanta, if he felt like it. He's won his last 4 fights and is coming off the biggest win of his career to date, a split decision over Roy Nelson. Actually, I think I had Nelson winning but whatever. The Beast's streak continues.

I don't really like Abdurakhimov's chances. I wouldn't write him off though. Look at the big dopey lump in the picture there and it's easy to picture him as the big div kid at school who hands out the milk and stands with the dinnerladies in the playground at break time because they feel sorry for him. But he's big, he's Russian and he's got a pretty extensive striking background. In the end though, he's lost to some mediocre fighters and beat some mediocre fighters.

I think the Beast should win. It'll probably be by KO, early and in brutal fashion. Followed by Lewis's disgustingly smutty post-fight celebration. Yes. It's going to be a Black Friday of a different kind.

Speaking of black beasts...Ngannou vs Hamilton co-headlines. Ngannou is still a little bit of a mystery at the moment. He ticks all the boxes of what a heavyweight fighter should be like. We just haven't seen enough of him to have the important questions answered yet. But what we've seen so far has been pretty savage. He's every bit as devastating as he looks when he uncorks those shovels he calls hands. And I've never considered Hamilton any good. He's just a fat brawler. At the end of the day it's heavyweights throwing bombs with little gloves on. Anything can happen and Hamilton is a big boy. But if Ngannou is ever going to be anything in the UFC, he needs to be walloping guys like Hamilton quick time.

Cummins vs Villante could be fun or very very boring. I find it hard to see a middle ground in this one. Villante is a fairly exciting fighter to watch. He's a Serra-Longo guy, long time training partner of Chris Weidman and he's a New Yorker so the crowd should be firmly in his corner. But Cummins is a one trick pony and his one trick is smothering wrestling. That's all he's got. If Villante can do what Little Nog did and keep it standing long enough to tag Cummins with some hurtful punches, that's when Cummins seems to panic, get sloppy and charge into more punches face first. Can see Cummins shutting Villante down to a lopsided decision myself but hopefully Villante proves me wrong.

Assuncao vs Sterling is ***WAND'S ONE TO WATCH***. Didn't even know this was happening but I love this pairing. Assuncao has had a shit run of luck the last couple of years. He was on a long winning streak and was announced as champ Renan Barao's next challenger in 2013, but injuries fucked him over big time and he sat on the sidelines for what seemed like an absolute age. He returned but was derailed again when TJ Dillashaw beat him at UFC 200. So now he's starting from square one again really. He's always just a couple of wins away though, I reckon. He's got the skills and if Cruz keeps clearing out the division he'll soon need a fresh opponent so Assuncao could slot in there.

For Sterling this is a big opportunity to get back on track. He was undefeated before Bryan Caraway stopped his streak in his last fight. He's 12-1 now. He's also a Serra-Longo fighter and a New Yorker so the pressure is on him to bring home the bacon here. He's fighting in his hometown, against probably the toughest opponent of his career and he's coming off his first loss. Tough fight for him and the style matchup is tricky too. Very intriguing clash this, IMO.

Beastin' 25/8 vs O'Connell, I'm hoping against logic will be decent. Sean O'Connell had a wild fight with Steve Bosse in June. One of 2016's forgotten gems. So I'm hoping he brings the heat here and forces Boring Corey into a proper scrap. Corey Anderson is fucking awful to watch. He looks like Evander Holyfield but you'd never confuse the two once the bell rings. Holyfield's probably had more great fights than Mr 25/8's had wanks. Corey even had a fairly dull fight with Shogun in May, for fuck's sake.

Lima vs Suarez could be an entertaining one. Lima's a decent fighter. She's no world beater but she's got a solid skillset, good Muay Thai and BJJ. She's 8-3 and she's gone 3 rounds with Joanna Jedrzejczyk so she's got experience at the highest level.

Tatiana Suarez was the strawweight winner of TUF in the summer, as a member of Team Gadelha. She's undefeated at 4-0 and has a wrestling background. I barely watched anything of the Jedrzejczyk vs Gadelha session of TUF so all I've seen of Suarez was her fight against Amanda Cooper at the finale. I thought she looked really impressive but I didn't know enough about Cooper to guage her performance really.

Nothing else on the card grabs my attention but there's enough on this one that I'm looking forward to it. Nice little set of fights.

lovely little main card here, the two heavyweights likely won't go longer than 5 minutes combined. Hope the Black Beast run continues, he's been one of the finds of the last couple of years, he's turning into a proper cult figure.

...and like you wand. i had no idea that Sterling/Assuncao was even happening. Cracking fight that though. This is the second New York show so having Sterling and Villante on there is a nice touch, both should probably have been on 205.

Well this card is taking a beating.

Aljamain Sterling and Tatiana Suarez are injured. So Assuncao vs Sterling and Lima vs Suarez are both off. Bollocks. Was looking forward to both those fights, especially Assuncao vs Sterling.

Don't forget this is on Friday night. We're getting the main card live on BT Sport 3 at 2am Saturday morning.

Couple more changes as well. Patrick Cummins is out of the fight with Gian Villante. Some bloke called Saparbek Safarov replaces him. And ex Invicta fighter JJ Aldrich steps in against Juliana Lima.

Hopefully that's it as far as card changes go. This one's been a bit cursed.

I'll make time for the main card this weekend, along with the main card of 206, and pair them both together for a nice helping of comfort watching while I nurse the hangover from the Christmas party on Saturday night. I actually forgot this card was this month as well, I knew it was happening but had thought it was in January for some reason.
