Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 6, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2016 I haven't watched the doc yet. Got it in my planner though along with the Countdown. I'm going to watch them, the weigh ins and all the Embedded episodes tomorrow night if I get chance. If not then I'll definitely cram them all in on Saturday morning/afternoon. I've not really followed the build up at all but I know once I watch all this I'll be well hyped up for 204. Â Oh yeah, BT Sport are showing Bisping's fight with Anderson Silva from the London show in February in full at various points this week. It's called 'UFC Main Event' on the EPG if you're looking out for it. If you haven't seen the fight then I recommend you give it a watch. One of the best fights of the year, easily. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 6, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2016 I can see why you think that, Dave. I had it on last night and I can definitely see why someone might have Anderson winning, although I was busy with my daughter so wasn't exactly scoring it closely. I think at the time, I was so convinced Bisping was going to get slaughtered that, watching the fight live, seeing Bisping doing so well and being so competitive might've made me be a bit more generous towards him in the scoring. I might rewatch it again tomorrow when I can focus on it more with no distractions and see if I feel the same. Â Anderson looked a bit better in the fight than I remembered as well. I'd been saying I thought people were overplaying the 'Anderson is declining' angle going in but I recall coming on here that night after the fight and saying something like 'yeah OK, I admit, Anderson's slipping'. Now clearly he's not the force he once was, but looking at the Bisping fight again, he still looked pretty fucking lethal when he actually decided to attack. Him getting dropped by Bisping was a shocker though. Â Whatever the case it was a hell of a fight. I actually wouldn't even mind seeing a rematch in Brazil or something at some point before they both retire.
bono
I was at the o2 that night. Thought bisping had rounds 1,2 and 4 on that night with silva winning 3 and 5. With the event being on fight pass which I've never had this is the first time I've had the chance to watch the fight back. Probably closer then I thought on the night but I'd still give rounds 1,2 and 4 to bisping. 1 is very close but bisping rocks silva in the last 20 seconds , round two again was close but bisping dropped silva, round 3 again was close but silva had the knock down right at the end with the knee. Always thought the 4th round was the critical round on the night. After watching it back I would 100% give it bisping for 4 minutes 45 seconds bisping connects with a lot of shots. Silva doesn't do anything until the last 15 seconds but doesn't do enough for me. Silva wins round 5 for me
adequate8
going to the weigh ins later (my first ever) - how long do they normally last?

My overriding opinion of that fight is one that I've had of Anderson fights for a while, and that is that he's treating it like some sort of glorified sparring session. I always get the impression that he's fucking about more than he has to, and isn't giving it his all.  Throughout that Bisping fight I kept thinking that he was going to unleash holy hell and end it all with a highlight reel finish, but he just kept fucking about. Paid Members Chunk Posted October 7, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted October 7, 2016 going to the weigh ins later (my first ever) - how long do they normally last?  45 minutes? Something like that.  They're also really fun. You'd think watching a guy stand on a scale would be dull as all hell but it's actually brilliant fun. Helps if you've watched them online / TV before too because suddenly you're in the 'thing' you're so used to seeing on screen.  Enjoy!

I agree. Throughout that fight it felt like he could finish it at any point but just couldn't be arsed. Bisping did well, I still had that fight in his favour after watching it a couple of nights ago with the same call as Bono above, but Anderson looked more dangerous when he could be bothered to pull his finger out.

David
Anyone else think Dan Henderson is looking really fucking old these days?
Paid Members Carbomb Posted October 7, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted October 7, 2016 Yeah, but isn't that because he is really fucking old these days? In fighter terms, that is.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted October 7, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted October 7, 2016 When I watch Henderson in these embedded videos, he makes me want to rustle up a cup of hot chocolate, run the bath, lie there for fucking 3 hours, then get into a nice warm bed.  Everything moves in slow motion when both listening to and watching him.
David
Yeah, but isn't that because he is really fucking old these days? In fighter terms, that is.  Yeah, but I'm meaning that he's looking like he's fucking 60 or something. Look at him here;   He looks like some doddery auld boy who's stumbled into the wrong place, stood there grinning like a goon.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted October 7, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted October 7, 2016 Aye. It's quite the contrast watching Hendo training with all the mobility of a WWF Hasbro, while Bisping is showing off with perfect flying knees and spinning heel kicks etc. Bet Hendo is still T800 strong, though. David
Yeah, but there's a reason why he's moving and reacting like he's 60 years old when he's actually only in his mid-40's. Â Truth is, whilst 46 is old in MMA years, it isn't really in normal life. I don't know many folk who are 46 that move, look and talk like he does. The guy's all manner of fucked up I think.
