Stinky Dad
#1 Football Predictions League 2016-17: post #1 Fog Dude Backyarder Members 42 posts Posted 09 August 2016 - 23:02 I might have to bump this some weeks. That should mean we have roughly one round per page on the standard forum settings. This post will be edited frequently throughout the season with results of the current week's games and the fixtures for the following week, plus a link to the table. My weekly write-ups will be found later in the thread. We now have regular table updates, and the link to it is here. Right, there's only room for 4 EPL matches on the card this week as we feature the FA Cup for the first time this season, alongside the second of ten scheduled visits to Spain and a very rare (but always super popula Week 10 fixtures Premier League Bournemouth 1 v 0 Hull City Crystal Palace 1 v 1 West Ham United (5:30pm) Stoke City 2 v 0 Sunderland West Bromwich Albion 1 v 2 Tottenham Hotspur FA Challenge Cup last qualifying round Stamford 0 v 2 Wrexham Sutton United 1 v 3 Forest Green Rovers La Liga Real Betis 1 v 3 Real Madrid (7:45pm) Sporting Gijón 0 v 2 Valencia (Sunday 5:30pm) A-League Newcastle Jets 0 v 1 Brisbane Roar (Sunday 7am) Perth Glory 2 v 0 Wellington Phoenix (Sunday 9am) All games kick off on Saturday and at 3pm unless stated. Fog Dude
Apologies for my post above. It was a rush job on my phone. I won't delete the to bit as it'll show my post has been edited. Don't worry. I picked later than usual this week because on Thursday I could only have posted on a mobile device or not at all, and quoting the opening post is too fiddly. Speaking of the original post... the results have been in there since Sunday night, and a link to the table and the next set of fixtures will follow soon after I finish typing this up. The average haul this time out was 7.17 points, which is slightly on the low side. Top scorer was ultimo with a whopping 15, including 4 exact scorelines and being the only participant to score any points for the Cup ties as he got the shock at Sutton spot on. (BT Sport actually showed Forest Green's qualifier live last season, but strangely didn't bother with a live game this year.) Sadly, it didn't lead to a return meeting with Coventry to evoke memories of the last proper upset (as in semi-pro beats top flight) in 1989. The only other player into double figures this round was Briefcase, with leader Stinky the sole person apart from those two to get more than one three-pointer. His nearest challengers at the start of play were the two lowest scorer, allowing him to extend his lead to a massive 17 at this early stage, whilst the third worst performer was ZKM, so he's cut further adrift. Nobody thought there'd be seven goals at Dean Court or Betis, but those results were generally good for one-pointers anyway. The scorelines at Stoke and in Asturias proved even more fruitful, alongside a reverse for the Kiwi team in the Western Australian capital. That's one long journey home from the ironic 'derby'! The margin of victory for the home side in New South Wales turned out tough to foresee, whilst a rare win for West Ham and a score draw thanks to two late goals at the Hawthorns caught most people out. Finally, a change of manager for Wrexham – which has been all the rage among Welsh clubs in the English leagues lately – wasn't enough to stop them being held in Lincolnshire and then losing the replay, which was also difficult to guess beforehand.
