The final scores went into the opening post on Sunday night, and a link to the updated table will be added alongside next week's fixtures as soon as I'm done with this write-up.

The average score this time out was 7.91 points, which isn't too bad really. Vegeta got his D2D bet wrong, but only 4 other people disagreed with him, so he wouldn't have got many bonuses if he'd been right anyway. That left him as joint second lowest scorer for the round alongside Stinky Dad... who nonetheless somehow increases his lead at the top because PRINCE2356 was the outright worst performer on just 4 points!

ZKM is now 18 points adrift at the foot of the standings. If he's giving up, then Grecian now has a 9-point lead over Glenryck. MVP RULZ temporarily recaptures the form of his title-winning seasons with a haul of 15, with ultimo also managing 3 exact scores and getting into double figures.

A score draw at the Neuvo San Mames and a rare away win for Valencia in their derby (of sorts) at El Madrigal caught out most participants, but a narrow victory for Caley Thistle in the Scottish Cup proved more fruitful. A one-sided second half saw Hibs almost score at will against their Junior opponents, which took the scoreline beyond what anyone here had guessed beforehand.

Further reverse for struggling Palace and Sunderland were also easy to foresee, but the outcomes at The Etihad, The Riverside and The Britannia bet356 Stadium were more of a mixed bag at best.

Not giving up, some one needs to prop up the table. With there only being one thread this season I lose track of when I have or haven't put my predictions in. I'm sure I've ha? my D2D already. Do we get two this year?

Well, moving everything into one thread wasn't my decision, but I think we've adapted quite well so far. If it makes it tougher for you to keep track, then you need to take that up with the mods and Paidos.

Yes, I announced last month in the ever-changing blurb in the opening post that everyone would be getting a second D2D this season.

The results went into the opening post on Sunday night, and the table was worked out the following day. Next week's card and a link to the updated standings will appear there as soon as this write-up is finished.

Zebra Kid Mark did play after all, but wrongly backed Dortmund to win at Mainz in a meeting of Herr Klopp's two former sides. However, only 3 of the other 10 participants disagreed with him (and one of those didn't go for a draw), so he'd have only got 6 bonuses points even if he'd been right. That either means I've been choosing these fixtures for the second lot of D2Ds unwisely, or people are just being tighter with their bets. At least the tradition of most people losing at their D2D turn – which was under threat before Christmas – seems to be coming back.

More than half the players (ZKM among them) were joint worst performers this time out on 4 apiece, dragging down the average score to only 4.81 points. Glenryck Pilchards was top scorer and the only participant into double figures and with more than one exact score. Even if he hadn't been the best picker, he'd still deserve the most plaudits this week for his sterling and swift work in figuring out the points and winners for the Royal Rumble Lottery!

Why such low scoring in this round, then? Well, there were a lot of 'upsets' in the Cup, but they were hardly your old-fashioned shocks as teams chasing the title, survival and even promotion from the Championship largely made a whole raft of changes to their starting line-ups.

Expected away wins for Man City and Arsenal were generally good for at least one-pointers, whilst Bayern's victory on the road at the Weserstadion proved fruitful. Hull's surrender at Craven Cottage turned out to be harder to foresee, especially given the visitors' two penalty misses in as many minutes.

Goalkeepers took centre stage at the Kassam Stadium, Sincil Bank and The New Den too. Oxford United's stopper played a blinder to help knock out the Fat Spanish Waiter and his Barcodes. The fortunes of their promotion rivals at Lincoln City turned on an incident in which their second-choice 'keeper was injured, and a 37-year-old Dane (whose only previous appearance had been in a competition rejigged this season to promote young English players) was the replacement that gave the rest of the defence jitters. Meanwhile on Sunday lunchtime, Watford's reserve goalie was also hurt, but luckily regular starter Heruelho Gomes was on hand to go in goal... and yet they still lost to Millwall. In all three cases, this made the outcome tough to guess beforehand.

Elsewhere, nobody quite thought play-off hopefuls Huddersfield would triumph at Spotland as comfortably as they had against Port Vale in the previous round, and Sutton's success at home to Leeds caught most people out as well.
