Fog Dude
The results have been in the opening post since last night, but there's no table yet, so I'll just briefly explain how things stand here. Draft Fantasy League guru Stinky Dad has taken the initial advantage on 8 points, followed by reigning champion MVP RULZ on 6 points. Newcomer Grecian unfortunately scored no points at all, but I'm sure he'll do better next time. In a low-scoring week with an average of 4.23, everyone else scored 3-5 points. The Championship scores were the best of a bad bunch. Nobody got the exact scoreline from the 7-goal thriller at The Emirates yesterday. Three 1-1 draws in the EPL and one in the MLS, plus two 1-0 away wins made for a mixed bag at best. Thanks to Rory for his kind words both here and via PM. That kept me going when certain people's behaviour in the General Football thread made me feel like giving up. It looks like he got at least one more person to sign up, who now has a complete set of D2D choices and a fixture provisionally allocated. In a change from previous practice, the fixtures are also up in the opening post, alongside explanations and reminders of how D2D works and the 'cup ties rule'. Fog Dude
The results for Week 2 have been in the original post since Sunday night, and the link to the table and fixtures for Week 3 will be up shortly after I post this. The average score was 6 points this time out, with Rory the unlucky worst performer on half that score. Having gone through the hassle of getting himself a D2D team, mim731 curiously sat out this round. He therefore props up the standings at this early stage, with fellow newcomer Grecian just above him thanks to last week's blank score. A late goal at Vicarage Road from Diego Costa – who shouldn't even have been on the pitch at the time – earned TildeGuy some bonus points from the 3 other participants (out of a possible 11) who bet against him and Chelsea. He is therefore obviously the early leader this season. Without those bonuses, he'd still have been joint top scorer with two other players, and would be in third place overall behind Stinky and Vegeta. I said Rory was unfortunate because he was the only person to back Unterhaching (Bayern's non-1860 local rivals that were in the top flight as recently as 2001, but now slumming it in the fourth tier). Lots of German Cup ties went to penalties, but suspiciously, only one of those matches was won by the underdog. With the other two games on our card, the result was obvious and it was a question of getting the exact score right. A lot of people were only one goal out when it came to the Villingen scoreline. Few participants realised that Burnley-Liverpool was a nailed-on home win, or that the clash at the King Power Stadium had a stalemate written all over it. Victories elsewhere for Boro, Spurs and Everton proved fruitful, but Hull's win away at the Liberty was tougher to foresee.
