I was really impressed. Great setup, love the video packages, good sound, good lighting, and decent wrestling matches from top to bottom. I also liked the minimal use of the What Culture guys. I was worried they'd be all over the show but just a couple of appearances and generally to drive the story along.

I'd never seen Pete Dunne wrestle before last night but Christ he's good, made a new fan in me.

Really enjoyed Cody Rhodes/ Ligero. Was gutted about the result but I don't think anybody thought Cody would be doing the job.

Fucking Del Rio no showing. Twat. Mundo is great at being the dickhead heel though.

Crowd reaction to Hardy and Bully Ray was batshit. Broken Matt just oozes charisma, pretty amazing stuff. Bit of booing after the match as a table spot was teased but never materialised and it seemed a bit on the short side. Them popping up at the end of Kirby/Osprey seemed to send folk home happy, wonder if that was planned before the booing or not?

Thought Kirby/Osprey was great, probably match of the night for me.

Was a bit disappointed by the lumberjack match, the lumberjacks milling around on the outside chatting kept taking me out of the match. Also, Prospect being faces in the opening match and then heels here was a bit confusing. In ring was definitely my type of match though, two big bastards just leathering each other. Definitely want to see the rest of the best of 7 after this.

Enjoyed the main, wanted Hendry to win by shenanigans and Galloway to chase but this'll do. Maybe they can have Hendry dispute the finish.

Didn't find the fans too twattish either which I was surprised by as I figured it'd be full of the sort of fans that lurk in the Youtube comments section. There were a few dickheads behind me that were off their faces that insisted on giving a running commentary to everything only they were giving the wrong names to the moves and wrestlers. One of them was constantly shouting "Come on Doug" to Jonny Moss, thinking he was Doug Williams but kept on telling his mates how much he knew about Britwres, the amount of time he's spent in a wrestling ring and that "there's far too much give in that ring". Cunt. Other than that nobody seemed to be trying to get themselves over at the expense of the show and only the "FIGHT FOREVER" chant stood out as being particularly DEMWANSY.

I'll definitely be going again.

Well. An import defending his belt usually means spoiler alert: he's not losing it. Not that the NEX*GEN Title is anything important. Just don't see why Jarrett felt the need to do that seeing as GFW is virtually nonexistent. What have they even done since running that English dub of Wrestle Kingdom IX with JR and Matt Striker? Though WCPW presumably working with them doesn't surprise me at the least. Whilst I'm glad the personalities all over it is gone down. Im still not keen on it. As has been more or less mentioned before here. For people who constantly complain about WWE's booking styles, they're sure content on doing everything they find wrong with it.

Seeing as Cody Rhodes has been confirmed as the new member of Bullet Club and will debut at Wrestle Kingdom on, well. January 4th. Don't you think WCPW got themselves into a bit of a pickle? They already confirmed a match for him the day after for their weekender and also confirmed for the shows on the 6th and 7th. I can't fathom how he's going to fly over from Japan after and be in reasonable shape to wrestle after a 10 hour flight or how long it takes. Because Japan's not just going back time zones. You're going back a whole season. And you never know if they might want him for the Korakuen Hall show the day after. Obviously New Japan dates will have priority. It just seems odd.

I see the WCPW hacks are at it again. Now they're stealing other promotion's show titles. Billing their January 5th Liverpool show as 'Kirbymania' when Southside already held 'Kirbymania' back in October this year.

Also they're airing the Liverpool show live on Youtube for free, as if there was any doubt at all about this promotion's desire to be any kind of serious business instead of some sugar daddy's plaything.

What point are you trying to make with your last sentence?

Pretty self-explanatory. Normal business rules don't apply to them. They distort the business by over-paying for Imports, for starters. They treat wrestling as a worthless throwaway product. Airing a show live on Youtube for free devalues wrestling and makes other promotions' streaming, DVD and iPPV shows harder to sell. They can do this because they're backed by a multi-million pound media company. They can afford the massive losses they rack up. They don't have to draw like normal promotions. If a normal UK indy drew 500 fans in a 2400 capacity venue (as WCPW will likely do in Liverpool, even more so now the show airs on Youtube) that would be a disaster and would affect their business. Doesn't affect WCPW though. It's a money mark promotion only backed by richer pockets. WCPW is a massive detriment to the U.K. business.

I know sod all about the UK scene, but posts like this irk me generally.

How have you got any idea of what they are paying for imports?  Are they overpaying? Or do they just have a bigger chequebook than their competitors and are able to bring more over?  I mean you might be bang on, but I suspect you've can't prove what you've said any more than I can.

As for airing free content, well fuck me, we'd all better pray ITV don't take this wrestling lark seriously - by your logic, the scene would be dead overnight, if wrestling fans would choose watching a stream on their laptop than their favourite performers live in the flesh.

As for the attendance thing... cant draw flies that WCPW lot.

That Liverpool card has Rhodes on it, who isn't overexposed over here at this stage, ZSJ debuting for the promotion fresh from the CWC, think Ospreay is on the card, they've got a woman off Lucha Underground, who I don't think has done much in the UK up to now and is likely to appear to a specific demographic.

Do you honestly think they wont shift tickets because they're streaming the event, or to look at it another way, is it fair and reasonable to expect a promotion who tours the UK and has the means to, NOT to broadcast their shows, and thus give punters in their wider market place a taste of what they'll spend their money on when WCPW comes to town?

Nuts, not with you on that pal, sorry.

I'm not a fan of the whole "what culture" thing, but who gives a flying fuck how much they pay? They are putting on entertaining shows, which people can watch for free, so good luck to them I say.

Any idea if they make any money back on the youtube ad stuff? I presume that's the idea with this promotion, give it away for free, and get the add money back?

It's been well documented what they are paying. They brought over JR & Cornette, neither of whom come for cheap. Del Rio's price tag is well known, as is Cody's. All of them were flown over in business class too. They're paying a fortune for imported talent.

The difference between WCPW and ITV is ITV will actually pay the British guys well, aren't focusing on imports and ITV will actually make money. WCPW quite clearly doesn't make money. You don't need to see their books to realise that.

Listen, I'm not posting anything other UK promoters aren't saying, be it PCW, ICW, PROGRESS etc.

As for attendance, I've attended tons of wrestling shows at the Liverpool Olympia. Believe me, they will not draw more than 500 fans. The north west market is reaching saturation point.

As for why anyone would care what they're paying and what they're doing.... I'm a huge fan of the British wrestling scene. Not just one promotion. If you can't see how what WCPW are doing is devaluing and damaging the scene, I'm not sure what else to say. If you don't believe me, ask some of the U.K. promoters the next time you attend a show what they think about WCPW. They're a dirty word within the business currently.

Stealing a show name from Southside is simply one very small example of the immense lack of creativity in WCPW and the blatant disregard and disrespect that they have for the UK business.
