Wanted: WCW Worldwide on Channel 5

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys, used to watch this show every friday night on Channel 5 back in the day. Wondering if anyone has any DVD or VHS recordings of the shows from back in the day.

Note this is the UK "Magazine" style WCW Worldwide show that was shown on channel 5 between August of 1999 to 2001 NOT the us version which seems to be readily available from XWT/youtube/dailymotion etc.

Included a small video clip below to jog peoples memory -

Arent the UK version on XWT as well?

The description on XWT is:

"Now this pack is both a rare and a strange one. It's essentially notable for two reasons.

It also must be mentioned that this simply a recap show and featured no exclusive matches of any kind. It did however feature commentary unique to the UK market (with many UK-related jokes and references).

1) It was the only WCW show to air after 31st March 2001 (last Worldwide episode) due to the events in the episodes being on a several-week delay.

2) Instead of the freeze-frames that blocked weapon shots on WWF programming, the method used by WCW/Channel 5 was super-imposing comical WHAM!, POW! etc. effects over the image. An example of this is available in the screenshots enclosed."

I remember that match! Mainly for the completely random match-up it was. Sting, one of the company’s biggest stars, against Billy Kidman, who was a good cruiserweight but an arguable mid-card spot, and Horace Hogan, who didn’t really amount to much despite sharing his surname with the biggest star in wrestling history.

Thanks very much Ian, any time i tried to join XWT was closed and invite only, also had assumed being so obscure it wouldn't be on there. Got an account and happily downloading. Package is only 2001 however, so above still applies, still on the lookout for any August 99 - 2000 Episodes people may have knocking about their loft or on hdd's.
