Churchill also allowed millions of people in India to die of starvation from a famine by refusing aid, simply because "Gandhi isn't dead yet".

He also called Mussolini a "Roman genius" and "greatest law-giver among men", and also declared that "Gandhi-ism and everything it stands for will have to be grappled with and crushed". As Houchen points out, he was a racist, imperialist shit who actually made some open comments about immigration giving rise to a "coloured problem", not to mention some pretty anti-Semitic comments too: "This movement among Jews is not new ... but a 'world-wide conspiracy for the overthrow of civilisation and for the reconstitution of society on the basis of arrested development, of envious malevolence, and impossible equality'."

There's a load of other stuff if you look deeper into it (not to mention a load of apologists attempting to blur the details), but his ordering of troops to fire on miners striking in the Rhondda is frequently over-looked as well. But, of course, the guy won us WWII (which, of course, no other leader would have wanted to do), and so he's now frequently referred to as "the greatest Briton". Load of shit.

Fairly certain he also recommended gassing the Kurds in 1922 (which obviously is something we went to war with Saddam over)

He was a good speaker though, so people let it slide.
