Caramac! No, wrong game? Dang!

Actually it was done on purpose to prove a point; The whole second part was about the evolution of language and how being so corrective and concerned with grammar rules continues to be less of a relevance as language continues to change, however, c'est la vie.

Ironic then that the same, post modernism that allows them to express their gender and sexuality definitions is taking away their meaning as society starts to skew towards a more androgynous society whereby gender and sexuality choice isnt that important, because it doesnt actually define the person. Whether or not they are an arsehole or not does.

Fuck me sideways, do you believe this is true?

No, it's true. All his shit grammar for the last ten years had been leading up to this post.

It's damn true! Where's Kurt when you need him?

Seriously though, language is all about evolution and playfulness. As long as the intention and meaning are understood, then unless it's to be proof read or broadcast, language will evolve. Words and grammar change frequently, from things like literally, no longer meaning literally, but not literally or, the change in the use of the word 'gay', from happy, to sexuality identifier to non sexual based insult. There are a plethora of others. Syntax, grammar, word meanings and usage are shifting all the time, from 'l33t Speak' through to hashtag compounds, becoming verbal, ditto internet abbreviations such as 'LOL' spreading to spoken word..

Protecting or correcting or even marking something out as other because it doesn't fit traditional linguistic conventions is becoming less and less relevant, English, and as I mentioned, French have changed rapidly over the last 20 years or so. the influx of non native speakers adding their own slant is nothing new, however because of globalization and the proliferation of dual language speakers and the rest, then the living languages are morphing consistently.

Do all English writers, scribe in the style of Shakespeare, Chaucer et al? Do they buggery! It's the same with Voltaire and the like for the French. Did many of those writers piss about with linguistics and create new words, meanings and syntax? Of course they fucking did! However, the way now is to protect something as if it is sacrosanct, when it clearly isnt. Some are suggesting that it's to do with personality type and control, with introverts more bothered about inaccuracies as a control thing, where as extroverts are less likely to care because of it doesn't detract from the meaning nor the writer's intention.

There's plenty on line about all of the above, here's a few examples, it is however fascinating.

Okies, I won't fuck you side ways, but I'll posit something instead.

Define a Man!

Define a Woman!

Aside from the biological differences, what other things mark them out as being different from each other? Is it the way they look or act or the way they are expected to look or act or behave? Is it the clothes they wear, or is it about the person inside that makes them intrinsically man or woman?

Over the last 100 years or so, women have become increasingly more masculine in their 'role' as gender equality has become something to strive towards. Men at the same time have become increasingly feminine as the blur between gender decreases. Dont think so?

How many people will raise up a stink at a woman in a trouser suit, or doing a traditionally man's job? Is there an increased gender equality in everyday things? How many lasses will act like 'lads' from going on the piss or taking the mick and hunting in packs, all traditional male markers. Women are increasingly becoming the lead earners in house holds and assuming traditional male roles.

How many people bat an eyelid for men who tan or use cosmetics, whether it be from moisturiser, lip balm and so on?. Men get laser hair removal, some shave body hair all the time, and it's not just athletes or trans. How often do you hear men bitching about women being able to do things that men cant such as women being able to and so on. How many men have assumed traditional women's roles such as  housekeeper, main parent, and then into teaching, caring, nursing and a whole slew of previously gender specific careers?

Yes, it's a very basic comparison, but it at least demonstrates that things have changed, add in the rise of androgynous clothing, the rise of unisex scents, hair cuts, 'metrosexuality' and the rest and the 'gap' between what defines gender aside from biological differences is getting less and less.

Yes there is still massive gender inequality, such as pay for women, or Domestic Violence help for men, amongst other things. However the differences are becoming less and less and society, more importantly 'westernised' society is becoming more genderless.

It's a particular phenomenon to the west as many other societies, have long had third genders or ill defined gender roles and it will be something that is hard to let go. The frankly oppressive moves in the states about TG bathrooms etc , is spectacularly insane and ill thought out, and it's of no surprise that many of the states, proposing and passing legislature are the ones who took so long to emancipate slaves and the rest of it. They are still trying to control something that has passed them by, in a vague attempt to seem relevant but missing the point entirely.

Then there's sexuality. How important is it if someone is straight, gay, bi or asexual? Does it affect you, or has society conditioned reactions to it? Who people are attracted to sexually, in the adult sense, has absolutely no bearing on the person, nor does it define who they are. Those who are out proud and whatever may disagree, but the paradox about labels and acceptance is strange at best and will hemorrhage any decent debate as, marking what you are isnt a definition of what you are, yet not all will see it like that.

So, is a person's sexuality important? No not at all, it's a shame that not all people see it that way, but that's what conditioning, hegemonic ideas and the rest will do, making that which is other or different to be feared.

I appreciate this is all skimming the deeper and much more involved issues however, there again is plenty out there on this

Kate Bornstein's 'My Gender Workbook', examines what it is to be a gender, complete with 'buzz' pronouns and everything, but goes into depth as to defining as to what gender really is and asks does it matter.

Fashion has long been one to mix genders and a there's a brief insight here- http://www.bbc.co.uk/culture/story/20150331-womens-clothes-for-men

It's probably dull as dishwater to most, but there ya go.

Going back to the limitations of free speech, Amnesty International has a pretty good set of ideals as to when it can be limited, but the circumstances have to be clearly defined https://www.amnesty.org.uk/free-speech-freedom-expression-human-right
