dunno if im pushing my luck with the new threads here, but given we got a Bellator thread as well as a British MMA thread im assuming the Other MMA thread would kind of fall away so i thought a Glory thread might be worth starting. It doesn't get a lot of love here but as me and a few others keep banging on about, it's always worth your time. The Fight Pass access just makes it even more accesible now too.

Anyway's, Glory 30 is friday:

glory-30-los-angeles-jacoby-schilling-wi

GLORY 30 FIGHT CARD

Middleweight Title: Simon Marcus vs. Dustin Jacoby
Marat Grigorian vs. Djime Coulibaly
Welterweight Finals: TBA vs. TBA

Semifinal: Francois Ambang vs. Daniel Morales
Semifinal: Casey Greene vs. Richard Abraham

SUPERFIGHT SERIES
Joe Schilling vs. Jason Wilnis
Guto Inocente vs. Brian Douwes
Tiffany Van Soest vs. Esma Hasshass
Mike Lemaire vs. Karl Roberson
Manny Mancha vs. Warren Thompson

As is always the case, the Superfight Series is on Fight Pass, then the main card airs on ESPN 3 in America (we dont get it, but it's easily obtainable if you know where to look. Joe Schilling is pretty well known to most MMA fans so great to see him headling the Fight Pass portion.

The main event of the main event card is a bit of a mental one, Dustin Jacoby fights for the middleweight title. Jacoby was a bit of an MMA journeymen when he moved to kickboxing, he went 1-6 in his first 7 Glory fights then went on a 5 fight win streak (five KO's), he's done a bit of a reverse Mark Hunt. It's a story that really deserves more of a spotlight shined on it, i hope he pulls it off.

Here's the countdown show...

as is usually the case with Glory events, there's several names im unfamiliar with, it's worth tuning in though just to see what kind of crazy bastards Glory have brought in. For example they brought in another MMA fighter Guto Inocente (who's on the prelims) at Glory 27 and he goes and does this:

Good man. I was going to start a GLORY thread, but thought it would just be Ebb and I posting every once and a while about our fevered dreams featuring Rico Verhoeven. It may still be that, but never mind.

Anyway, hopefully Marcus wins because the real fight of interest in the middleweight division is the re-re-match with Levin - 1st was a draw, 2nd had that bizarre ending where Levin refused to fight after getting docked some points. Plus, I've went off Jacoby a wee bit since his crap Bellator run. Jacoby is on a good run currently, what with winning the middleweight tournament on the same card Levin decided he'd rather play FIFA and have a crisp roll.

Can't say I know most of the fighters on the undercard, but Joe Schilling is good fun.

Yeh he's great.

The Tiffany chick fighting on the undercard is a bit of a big deal apparently, she was meant to sign with the UFC but ended up signing with Invicta so she could do Glory as well.

I love GLORY. I've struggled to keep up with it since BT Sport stopped showing it though. Totally forgot 30 was last night and I've just gone and spoiled it for myself.

I've seen her fight a couple of times. She's good. She's trained a bit with Bas Rutten, I think. He's always bigging her up on twitter and stuff anyway.

Were UFC really going to sign her though? She's 0-1 in MMA.

apparently, i got that from the Rutten/Ranallo podcast.

I'm way behind but i finally caught the Superfight Series, the Schilling/Wilnis fight was the highlight. Schilling went full heel at the end, i had him losing every round (first two razor close) the 3rd clear due to the knockdown, which was clearly a knockdown, half of balance maybe but the punch sent him down.

Id like to see Glory set up a third fight, settle it for good.

Note on the Glory punch stats people though...what the fuck!? they had Wilnis landing a total of 7 punches in the whole fight, i wasn't counting but that seemed off by about 40. I might re-watch it and count myself.

Glory 31 this weekend, the Fight Pass Superfight series includes an interesting fight:

I don't follow Thai Boxing, but Saenchai is widely considered one of the greatest Thai Boxers in history, im tuning in to check out what he's all about.

here's a Bloody Elbow preview for the Superfight Series: http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2016/6/21/11989412/glory-31-fight-card-preview-superfight-series-ufc-fight-pass-kickboxing-amsterdam-saenchai-mwekassa

What did you make of Saenchai's performance? It looked like he struggled to adapt to the rule differences in the first two rounds. I actually had him losing the first round until he scored the knockdown. He just couldn't seem to help catching the kicks or trying to initiate the clinch, which must be absolutely instinctive to him after so long fighting Muay Thai. By the third I think he'd settled into the style and fully took control of the fight. He was certainly confident in his kickboxing ability, and seemed to enjoy the show boating between rounds. Entertaining little spectacle on the whole.

This goes down tomorrow night, we'll get the prelim portion on Fightpass again which looks real good. I'm planning on watching it live tomorrow after work if it's on at a decent enough hour.

i won't do a better job of hyping the show that this video so check this:

Verhoeven/Silva is a bit of a risk given Glory are planning a Verhoeven/Badr Hari fight in Decemeber which will pretty much be the biggest kickboxing fight of the year.

Glory has it's biggest show of the year in 2 weeks, i'll try keeping this thread bumped throughout in the lead and get some preview materials up as it should be an event worth tuning in for.

For starters though, here's a Top 10 Glory KO's video that's just popped up on the UFC youtube channel, worth a few mins of your time:
