The IJF’s annual judo festival #WorldJudoDay, will be celebrated around the world on Friday 28 October, the birthday of judo founder Jigoro Kano, and this year the general public will decide the theme by voting in a Twitter poll. UNITY (2015), HONOUR (2014), PERSEVERANCE (2013), JUDO FOR ALL (2012) and RESPECT (2011) were previously adopted as themes as judo enthusiasts the world around from Albania, Argentina, Belize, Botswana, Burundi, Great Britain and Canada to Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, Sweden and Venezuela all celebrate their participation in judo and its role as a martial art, Olympic and Paralympic sport and an educational tool to influence society.
