I doubt it'll be pinned.

I don't see any problem with a separate thread for sign-ups. May as well keep them weekly until the end of this season as well as there's only a couple of weeks left.

That'll be a bit rubbish, then.

Thanks, that's fair enough. It was my original understanding of the mod instruction anyway. If you were seriously suggesting this thread should be forced to become the one for Weeks 39 and 40 too – at zero notice –that would've been ridiculous.

With all due respect, we don't need or have to give notice about anything. As regards it not being pinned, there's several other threads which get far more thoroughfare on the forum which aren't pinned and won't be pinned at any time in the near future and you'd be behind them in the queue realistically. But yeah, anyway, it is what it is, and that's that. That's the end of the matter. Get back to predicting.

Of course the moderation is under no obligation to give any notice whatsoever, but the current instruction is certainly more courteous and reasonable than the original one. There's now no imperative to discuss what constitutes the 'queue' for pinned threads until August.

Aaaaanyway, before I get myself into any hot water... the results went into the opening post last night, and the table was calculated soon after and uploaded here just now. An average haul of 6.83 points despite everyone picking on time means there's almost no movement as everyone's position is virtually set in stone at this late stage. TildeGuy did what he needed to do by becoming top scorer, but sadly for him, MVP RULZ also made it into double figures as joint second best performer and so maintains a healthy lead. At the other end, the gap remains the same, which doesn't help Seph much.

Vegeta was the lowest scorer and therefore lost his Cup tie. There was already nobody left from the qualifying round Unfortunately the other three participants left all got the average score rounded up, meaning after getting away with it for 3 weeks, we have our first draw. Brady and ZKM got the same number of exact scorelines right (1 each), so the tie is broken in the lamest way possible. Zebra Kid Mark goes to the final as he's lower in the standings at the moment. He was correct in saying that this competition is made for him – it rewards being cack for most of the campaign! If anyone can think of a better way to resolve tie-breaks in future seasons, please do give suggestions.

The on-field action also pales into insignificance in comparison, but there wouldn't be a competition without it, so: draws at Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford and The Britannia proved fruitful alongside a vital home victory for Newcastle, as well as a more futile one for Aberdeen. Big wins on the road for West Ham, Killie and Inter were tougher to foresee, whilst triumphs for Everton and Roma turned out to be useful but quite difficult to guess beforehand too.

For the penultimate time, the next round has the privilege of a thread all to itself. It's the last normal set of 10 that will have this distinction, but it's also the first ever FPL Cup Final! Look out for that shortly.
