Why would they do that though, he doesn't have a big name, they signed Will Brooks & Marvin Heir both top 3 fighters in Bellator but the UFC casual crowd don't care, they care when Rhonda comes back or GSP and Conor whenever he comes back.  Bellator constantly mentioning the UFC makes themselves look week.

Watching the replay and Steve Mungo McMichael is on commentary For the Army guys which was different but not seen him since WCW, so glad he's still alive,  still think a 3 man team of Grande, Jimmy Smith & Chael Sonnen is the way to go, maybe Randy Couture when Chaels fighting

will watch the last two fights after the Juve  game

Will Brooks was just an example, could be any signing. The point is, part of the reason fans probably don't care is because the UFC don't seem to care. I'm not saying they should have a street parade when they sign these guys or anything. But if they don't seem to deem a new signing worthy of even a mention or a quick interview during a broadcast, is it any wonder fans don't care about anyone bar the mega stars. And let's be honest, those huge names like McGregor and Rousey made themselves. McGregor was smashing everyone in the cage and gold on the mic out of it. And Rousey was crushing girls in seconds while having crossover appeal with different media outside the MMA bubble and there was the novelty of her being female in a previously male dominated sport. All the UFC had to do was put the machine behind them. They just seem to have gotten a bit lazy over the last few years when it comes to promoting fighters elsewhere on the card. I get that the roster is bigger now so it's harder and I get that fighters don't always promote themselves all that well. But part of that falls on the UFC as well surely. A promoter's job is to promote their product after all, highlight the positives.

It's an area where Bellator has an advantage I suppose because they have a smaller roster so they can concentrate on really pushing to promote their smaller pool of fighters whereas a lot of the talent understandably get lost in the shuffle in the UFC machine.

A quick interview should be with someone you employ talking about a new fight coming up or a returning fighter, , its the exact same reason Bellator aren't picking up WSOF guys and doing interviews with them, nobody cares about the number 1_org picking up guys from the number 2 org and if the guys good enough he can make himself a star.

Sean Grande who is decent, has to cut the WWE/Pro Wrestling talk, who cares if the building hosted 3 Wrestlemanias, it was also the home of Michael Jordan when he became a legend or King MO is going to be watching Wrestlemania, fair enough a little but not all night.

Mole, you completely contradict yourself.

So Bellator shouldn't sign and promote WSOF fighters because they are lower down than Bellator in the pecking order...and they shouldn't promote ex-UFC fighters because it makes them look weak? So they are fucked is what you're saying?

...and you're wrong about Bellator not picking up guys 'beneath' them. Bellator signed and promoter Dillon Danis Friday night, he's a BJJ guy who had a grand total of zero fights. Should Bellator not promote him? They also signed and put the spotlight on 5 college wrestling standouts recently and labelled them the Fab Five (or something similar).

As for the not promoting ex-UFC fighters because it makes them look weak? Are you suggesting they just sneak someone like Rory MacDonald onto an upcoming and hope no one notices?

Bellator are promoting anyone they feel is of value to them and thats what they need to do.

Bit of a weird one tomorrow. Bellator are promoting an MMA/Kickboxing show in Italy that has little on it to make it resemble an actual Bellator show.

The actual fight that resembles a Bellator fight is weird as well. Rafael Carvalho/Melvin Maneheof 2 for the Middleweight title.

The first fight if you remember was one of the worst fights of 2016. You stick Manheof in with a Brazilian muay thai fighter and you think its guaranteed fireworks? Wrong...it sucked, but people believe Manheof was robbed his chance of winning a major belt, i guess thats why its being played back. Im intrigued to see, theres no way it can suck again.

Anyone watch this? Flicked through it today. Main event looked better than last time but still pretty dull. Melvin seemed to give up a bit when he suffered (an admittedly horrible) tooth injury.

I was making the point Bellator don't sign WSOF fighters and promote them like they are big deals and they shouldn't because most dont care, especially about the younger guys, talent is talent and get it from wherever. Bellator does heavily promote UFC fighters (or Strikeforce, Pride). The UFC rarely does this with anyone because they have most of the top stars and when the real top people return they do promote them, like Ronda, Jones or GSP.

He isn't some no name he trains and tries to talk like Conor McGregors, he's a rookie but he's a loud mouth so they are pushing him.

I never said Rory MacDonald, he's still elite, promote him and they and make him your big Canadian stae but Koscheck isn't and shouldn't be bigged up because he's lost about 5 in a row very badly, he was good in his day but he's not elite, he shouldn't be fighting in a big league never mind promoted from things he done 5-10 years ago.

Spike have ditched PBC and I think they should do the same with their kick boxing league and just concentrate on MMA, especially when it becomes the Paramount Channel.

fallen real behind with the fights recently i've had too much on, but i caught up on Carvalho/Manheof. Well they redeemed themselves, there's no real reason why the first fight played out as it did but it always felt like Carvalho took the brunt of the stick. He proved himself here, Manheof is getting up there in age but he's still dangerous, Carvalho gave him a bit of a beating here and finished with a brutal headkick KO. He needed that to cement himself as champion the 185lb division. You have to think that's it for Manheof, he's one of the most exciting fighters of his generation and anytime he was on a fight card i was tuning in, he could still probably carry on at a lower level but he's suffered some bad defeats over the years and that should lead to him hanging up the gloves.

The rest of the card was a weird one because it didn't feel like a Bellator show with the lack of names. Anastasia Yankova was on there and Bellator push her hard but she's so limited as a fighter that it's a little embarassing to watch, she might brush up well in a photo shoot but she's get eaten up any top female fighter, she's that odd case of being pushed into the limelight because of how she looks.

Still not seen the card from last week but ive avoided spoilers, there's another card tonight though...a rare 4 fight series fight headlining.

Bellator_178_Straus_vs._Pitbull_4_Poster

This looks more like it and features lots of recognisable Bellator names:

Daniel Straus vs. Patricio Pitbull - Featherweight Title

Jessica Middleton vs. Ilima Ley-Macfarlane

Dominic Mozotta vs. AJ McKee

Ryan Quinn vs. Saad Awad

The main event makes sense from the standpoint of Pitbull being 2-1 up in the series  (we could be looking at a 5th fight with a Straus win), but Pitbull is coming off a loss at lightweight to Benson Henderson and was actually beaten by Straus in November 2015 so im not sure why they've set it up here. I don't recall the last fight being controversial either.

Been confirmed that the London show next Friday will be live on Spike/Channel 5, i'm assuming prelims on one, main card on the other.

The show lines up like this (main card).

Rory MacDonald vs. Paul Daley

Michael Page vs. Derek Anderson

Linton Vassell vs. Liam McGeary

Augusto Sakai vs. Cheick Kongo

Baby Slice vs. DJ Griffin

liking the look of that!
