My memory is a little hazy around this but what actually led to her departure from the wwf in 2001?

I seem to recollect that her contract was up, she asked for a huge increase and they simply didn't negotiate and didn't renew it.

Is that what happened ?

Can't say this is a surprise.

It was only a few weeks ago at WrestleMania weekend that she didn't even show up to WrestleCon as she missed her flight, and then when WrestleCon paid for another flight she checked in and didn't even make the plane, if that doesn't set alarm bells ringing I don't know what will so guessing she's had problems recently if she couldn't even make it to a fan signing that people paid in advance for.

She was part of the attitude era and doubt there will ever be another like her, RIP.

Pretty incredible how much of an impression she made after just a few years in WWE, 15 years ago. She's been away from mainstream wrestling for a long time,

I thought it was more to do with that she didn't like the idea of working for someone that her ex was banging. Plus the idea of them rubbing her nose in it backstage every week.

To be fair to Trips, I remember stories of Chyna being a massive pain in the arse to deal with, sincerely believing she should main event etc (Perhaps those were false stories to slam her). She was also in an awkward spot in that she could easily kill anyone in the women's division, but she wasnt skilled enough to believably wrestle many of the blokes. Mid card IC matches with Eddie and Jericho looked ridiculous to me.

As others have mentioned, she's been pretty fucked up for at least a decade. Every six months there'd be a whacky interview, video or porn etc.  I'm sure friends and family were begging her to get help for years. Very sad, but not surprising at all.

Such a shame. It gets lost in the 15 years of D-list reality shows she's done, but God she was a big star during their biggest ever period. When she turned up, she was like nothing anyone had ever seen before. We've sort have been trained to forget about her, because of the re-writting of history and her porn career and all the scandal, but at her height she was one of their biggest stars. My favourite ever moment of hers was when helped HHH win the IC belt at SummerSlam 98. The roof went off.

Poor girl must have had a horrible life if you think about it. She didnt have the best of times before she got into the wrestling business, and that chewed her up and spat her out eventually. I always think that she was the most unlucky person ever to have her contract coming due. If this all went down a year before, WCW were daft enough to give her the money she wanted. She had no leverage in 2001. She was sort of the first victim of the wrestling monopoly.

That she would have never lived to see all these ex-colleagues & current talent say so many nice things about her in public, is quite troubling. Really sad situation.

At the start, perhaps, but since she's been an utter fuck up. They've been desperate for names for years. If she'd kept herself in shape, kept her name out there and kept her nose clean (Ahem), she'd have been back long ago.

Still no tweet from Hunter yet I see.

Just noticed that someone included a tweet from that "Brock Lesnar Guy"

He's tweeted now saying:

@TripleH: Someone who wasn't afraid to blaze her own trail and create a path for those who would follow. A pioneer whose star shines bright #RIPChyna
