I went to a small English improv show in a pub years ago, the troupe were on for hours and they were awful. The reason they were on for so long is because they were waiting for Mike McShane to turn up and join them for a guest spot but he was in a play and had to finish that first. He finally turned up at midnight or 1 am when the crowd and performers were completely spent, he took over like a fat sweaty tornado and completely turned up the energy and led everyone to a decent last hour of improv. He showed that it's not as easy as it looks, Tim Vine is funny but was trying out doing improv that night and McShane was in a different league.
