Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted March 9, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted March 9, 2016 This for me is the worst celeb passing so far this year. He was a huge inspiration for me and one of the reason I record and produce. Â A true legend
Sphinx
Genius. Massive part of The Beatles' success and how they sound virtually timeless today.
Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted March 9, 2016 Awards Moderator Share Posted March 9, 2016 It's a shame his passing hasn't made more of an impact. Â If you took what he did outside of The Beatles he'd go down as one of the most important producers in the last 60 years. But when you consider what he did with The Beatles, you can't do anything but put him at the top of the tree. Â He wasn't *just* a producer; he was as much a part of The Beatles as the band themselves. Lennon, Harrison and McCartney may have brought the goods to the studio but without George Martin they wouldn't have ended up as they did. Their best work wouldn't have been what it was without him and, by their own admission, they probably wouldn't have lasted as long as they did had he not been involved. Â The absolute best, never to be equalled.
Keith Houchen
I mentioned it in the 2016 is shit thread, but I doubt da beetz would have had the cultural impact they had without him. Currently watching a wonderful thing on BBC4 about him.
