Lucha Underground performer King Cuerno was apparently offered a spot in WWE's upcoming "Global Cruiserweight Series" 32-man tournament this summer, which will air across ten weeks on the WWE Network with qualifying matches being held at select EVOLVE, PROGRESS Wrestling and Revolution Pro events.

While Cuerno was said to be looking forward to happily accepting the offer, AAA and Lucha Underground reportedly prevented him from doing so.

King Cuerno is currently signed to a seven season deal, however he wasn't at the first round of the season three tapings and hasn't wrestled for AAA since March 4th.

Why would Lucha Undergorund prevent anyone from taking part? I know they have every right to, but it makes sense to let him get them some extra exposure. He'd be perfect to come in, look badass in defeat and drum up some interest in LU

Anyone know why he hasn't wrestled for AAA in a month?

LU are pushing it a bit with the seven season contract, no? They only just about go Season 2 going!

It's fairly common for networks to sign performers to long deals. Usually it's 5. 7 is crazy long. Especially as LU probably won't make it past season 3.

Fully agree, unless it was to clash with when they plan to film.

Are they offering the entrants into the series contracts or just using them for the series itself? Or are they looking at how they impress during the tournament and sign who they like after?

May or may not necessarily be NXT spoilers but just in case:

So...Ibushi is blatantly in this then, right?

How bad was his injury at the end of last year? I remember hearing it was a really serious one. And that's in Japan, so he must be pretty knackered
