Sting made Vader look like an absolutely unstoppable monster after that Great American Bash 1992 grapplebout. Check out that match on the Network. It's a complete squash.

Prior to that Antonio Inoki absolutely MADE Vader in Japan.

In his first match with the company, Inoki (the biggest star they had) allowed Vader to squash him in several minutes and score a clean pin.

A new killer gaijin was born.

Check it out - and think Inoki was God in Japan at that time. https://youtu.be/LZwGUsFm7_A

Was that the one where there was a crowd 'riot' afterwards?

In Christian's defence - the win over Jericho at XX shifted him from pure comedy fodder in to a solid midcard heel, the transition after this victory in to a more cocky competitor with Trish by his side and the addition of Tomko as his insurance policy turned him in to a heavily featured superstar.

After a year or so in to this run, I seem to remember a fair bit of buzz about a potential feud with Cena. Had Jericho have not got his leaving program with Cena, Christian would have no doubt had the full summer program with Cena. It was a shame at the time that he don't get the opportunity for a title match in a one on one match as that opportunity to prove himself may have had an effect on what he did post 2005.
