Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted May 15, 2015 Awards Moderator Share Posted May 15, 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32747861?ocid=socialflow_facebook  http://classicrock.teamrock.com/news/2015-05-15/b-b-king-dead-at-89  Aged 89, but still, I assumed he'd go on forever. One of the great blues voices, and definitely one of the greatest guitarists. RIP to the King of the Blues.  Anyone ever see B.B. live? That would have been great. WyattSheepMask
He was receiving hospice care quite recently, so it's not really a suprise. Sad news, but 89 is a good innings
Juan Manforce
Devastating news. I was lucky enough to see the man live in 2011, it was a real experience, even in his old age the talent didn't fade, the timing didn't let up, you could tell the man lived to entertain. My friends were joking around that he would die before the show I had tickets for. I joked back that I'd see him again on the next tour. Guess that won't be happening now. RIP, Mr King. handspants
When I heard Ben E King had died a few weeks back, I thought people were talking about BB.As you can tell, I wasn't well versed in either man, but I did have a BB King CD back in the day when those where a thing, and I was well into my discovering music phase. Â So yeah, sad to hear about, but not a bad age to go; and presumably led a pretty fulfilling life.

Paid Members chokeout Posted May 15, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted May 15, 2015 I actually thought he was older than that. He's one of those guys that has always looked like he was in his 80s. Genuine legend though.
Paid Members SpursRiot2012 Posted May 15, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted May 15, 2015 Yeah, this sucks. I don't want to be that guy, but I was actually listening to a Spotify playlist yesterday which had a bunch of his tracks on it. Love me blues. Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted May 15, 2015 Author Awards Moderator Share Posted May 15, 2015 There's a load of great articles and obituaries popping up on places like Classic Rock and Rolling Stone - everything from life stories, to various guitarists' thoughts on him, to the story of his 'Lucille' guitar.
Paid Members Statto Posted May 17, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted May 17, 2015  Anyone ever see B.B. live? That would have been great.  I was lucky enough to. Through the window of his club on Beale Street. For about 45 seconds, then I was forcibly removed by security.  I'd been to a Smackdown/ECW taping that night. The owner of the motel I was staying in (who was from Leicester, oddly) told me B.B. was playing that night when I checked in. Had I not already paid for my Smackdown ticket, I'd have seriously considered trying to get in there instead.
