What do you want to do when you grow up?

This weekend I finally turned 30, and so as a grown up it's about time I decided what I want to do as one.

I want to be an informercial pitchman. I love informercials. The creation of a problem that isn't there, the energy, the pure bollocks and bullshit. Sometimes I sell things in front of the mirror pretending to be Anthony Sullivan. I even have a catchphrase -  "Piece of mind, and saving time!". It'd be awesome being a pitchman.

So, what do you want to do when you grow up?

An actor.

I've always wanted to do it but I haven't got the bottle. It's odd as I have no qualms about playing onstage musically but acting? Nah, ain't got the nerve. Although I've recently stwrted getting help for my alcoholism and the advisor said a new hobby would help keep me off the booze.

I'd want to be Ollie Reed or drunk Phil Mitchell though. I'd go full method.

Well I'm 30 and work in a profession which I love, but I still want to be a sports journalist or comedy screen writer when I grow up.

Failing that, owner of record label. With zero qualifications it can't be all that hard can it?

Someone I know wrote a part for me in a play that starts rehearsal soon. Dunno if I will though, I used to love the theatrical acting, but now I'm more into the whole voice acting thing, I get a lot more nervous about being on stage than I used to back when I was acting, singing and being a fucking awful stand up unless I've had a whiskey first to steady me.

Who wants to hire a voice actor? E-books, adverts, corporate voiceovers. PM me!

My Wife's aunty is a flogger of shite on one of the sky channels, she's always on it selling suitcases and scarfs. I'm guessing it's the same as those British wrestling shows that pay to be on obscure TV channels.

You should just buy some air time and do your dirty stories or something until some fat cat business man puts you on a major network like on Wayne's World.

Iv'e wanted to be a Journalist since I was about 10, did it for nine months until February when the person I was covering came back. Now looking at a sales job to tide me over due to lack of jobs in the field and no word/rejection from the media jobs I have applied for.

I work in sales recruitment, more than happy to have a chat if you want to ping me a message.

I wanted to be a journalist, or teacher, or counsellor. I am doing the journalism thing of a sort, with a readership of over 8000. The teaching thing I kinda did in a previous job, teaching the entire company (over 2000 people) how to do something I designed and 'rolled out'. The counselling thing I wish I got paid for.

Ultimately though, I'd love to be a beach bum.. Laid back, fantastic and not much to give a shite about. It will never happen though, not enough dough to relax on :/

As a kid I always wanted to be a train driver, but in my teens I joined a heritage railway and lived the dream as a volunteer there, so needed a new one.

I enjoyed writing as a kid as it was the only thing I was good at, that and being particularly good at drama at school, so a writer or a voice over guy was always something I fancied.

In my adult life, I've dabbled in both, with being an ex-published author and I've had a course in Voice over artistry.

Voice over - http://voice123.com/allanbott  - have a giggle.

First novel - James Knight and the Orb of Ziarn - this is a link to the kindle edition I've self published after the publisher I was with decided to go out of business.

Mine changed a lot as a kid, as I expect was the case with most. When I was at primary school I wanted to be either a wrestler, cartoonist or play for Arsenal. Achieved the first one, which isn't much to boast about as it's not particularly hard to achieve in this country but knocked the cartoonist dreams on the head after I went on a drawing workshop when I was 9 or something. Seemed far too difficult and not as much fun as I thought it would be. Playing for Arsenal was obviously never going to happen as I wasn't thrust from my mother's womb directly into a football academy. Plus, I was always undersized and quite shit- a perennial sub for the school team.

In my teens I wanted to be an actor. Was all set to go to college to take a BTEC (or whatever it was) but I flunked my A-Levels at school, which I agreed with my Mum I'd do first to ensure I had something to fall back on, which led to a "you've wasted two years, you can go and get a fackin' job now" speech from my old dear.

Houchen, there's still time for us. We'll get somebody to write a UKFF soap we can star in.
