I've applied for a job there, so I want the lowdown off our Bog and Mick members of the forum.

Pros? Cons? What would I like? What would I hate? How different would you imagine it to be to Wales? Ireland me, fellas. Ireland me good.

Whats the job? Is it just a summer gig? I havnt been to Tralee in yrs and never been to Lisdoonvarna so I cant tell you much about the places themselves.

Pros : Locals Im gonna guess will be friendly enough cos you aint English or foreign ( and by foreign I mean Ireland is still a very racist country )

The beer will be cheap as it aint Dublin

The local women will prob go mad for the welsh accent

As per Punky...

Right, where you are going (Lisdoonvarna and Tralee) are nice places, in fairness.
Tralee, I don't like personally, because Kerry people despise Dublin people and this was an actual - almost verbatim - conversation between myself and a few lads in the jacks of a nightclub in Tralee.

Tralee Chap 1 "So...ye're from Dublin are ya?"

Me "The accent give it away?"

Tralee Chap 2 "A jackeen, yeh? Coming down with your hair gels and chasing our women, are ye?"

Me "It's matt clay, to be fair"

Tralee Chap 1 "Fucking cocky Jackeen cunts, the lot of ye, like."

Lisdoonvarna is nice though. There's a song about that place by Git Moore and it's as shite as you'd think it'd be:

Tralee is a bit of a dump and the people are thick & inbred. It gets nicer the further you drive out of Tralee - Dingle, the ring of Kerry, Valencia Island.

Lisdoonvarna is nice though - very scenic, albeit quite remote.

Ha you gotta love them civilised Kingdom dwellers Branquey!

Go for it Butch. As you say its a paid holiday. Are they sorting out accommodation for ya?

Yeah, digs in the hotel. I'm hoping for Polish students with loose bras and looser morals.

The main difference to Wales? Less Welsh there, so that's a good start.

I'd be more than tempted to give it a go. It's only for a summer, but you never know, it might be the start of something fantastic.

Of all the things to focus on!

Reminds me of The Day Today, with the angry bloke talking to the reporter, saying "Honestly, ya come in here, in yer glasses and yer shirt, and ya think ya know it all..."
