Moderators PowerButchi Posted March 26, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 26, 2015 Not many wrestlers are as underrated as Sean Waltman is. Watching 1993-95 again, Kid is the best on the WWF roster, closely followed by The King. Â Here's a place to discuss, appreciate and drop matches. Â Are there many better bouts than him vs Owen from KOTR 1994? Many matches more ahead of their time than him vs Hakushi from Summerslam 1995? Anyone more adept to adapt to anyone regardless of size or style? Anyone a better working babyface in 1998? Â Fucking AWESOME:- Â
Paid Members air_raid Posted March 26, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 26, 2015 Kid was amazing. He had an exciting match with Yokozuna when the latter was barely mobile. The way he bumped around for Big Kev was instrumental in forming my earliest opinion of "Woah, Diesel's a force." His selling was out of this world and he was the best underdog of all time. He just made you want him to win all the time. Fucked me off no end when they did the Barry Horowitz storyline in 1995 because as a stroppy teenager I was all "What?? No! You did this already with the Kid and did it better. Fuck you." Â I feel obliged to point out that Syxx in 1997 was one of my favourite heels too. Just a fantastic antagonist. Sneaking up with his video camera, stealing people's belts, stalking up to the commentary desk to wind up whichever babyface was giving guest colour, and best of all, getting in a cheap shot and running off and hiding behind Hall & Nash. He was a fantastic shit. Â "If he can't work with Kid, he can't work."
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted March 26, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 26, 2015 From that 93-95 period, no-one other than Bret was as good as 123 Kid. His underdog act was excellent because he looked like a weed but his work was so brilliant that he drew great sympathy. The match with Bret on Raw, and Owen at KOTR and Hakushi that Butch mentioned were brilliant. That Owen match is probably the best short match ever. His debut angle even drew interesting matches out of Dibiase and Razor who were both pretty tedious then. Â I went off him when he started wearing his Ninja pajamas and the heel turn was massively misjudged. He should have been the set-up guy for HBK through 1996 getting heels ready for title shots. Â He had some great matches as Syxx but he was a bit lost in the nWo. That Ric Flair impression is easily his best work! Â When he returned as X-Pac he was fucking ace. He was underused in that period because there was just so much competition. It's unfortunate he became known for the heat he got. I think it was just what we've been seeing for the last 15 years. WWE running out of ideas for guys and chucking them out there with no consequence. He was probably the first to suffer from that and it killed him. Â Sure as shit under-rated though. Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted March 26, 2015 Awards Moderator Share Posted March 26, 2015 Waltman's fantastic, I'd certainly put him in my top 10 all time favourites. Loved his stuff as X-Pac, easily one of the top guys during that era, I'm sure he'd have risen higher in the ranks if the roster hadn't been so crammed. I still thought he was great in his 2001 run, his matches with Kidman and Tajiri were excellent. He fitted right in to the nWo in 2002, it's a shame that ended how it did. His 2005 run in TNA was fantastic too, I remember a particularly excellent match with AJ Styles and one of those Clockwork Orange matches with Raven. Â I can only imagine how great it'd be to have him still active in WWE or NXT. X-Pac against Rollins, Cena, Ziggler, Bryan, Zayn, Balor, Neville... Brock Goldberg
Amazing talent. Â Such a smooth wrestler, always in the right position and could sell better than most. Â Could mix it with all types of wrestlers, help tell a story in the ring and draw sympathy from all that watched. Â Would love to see him in NXT or even back on the main roster. Perhaps not every week but every now and then, the odd main feud, PPV match etc....
TheShowOff
He was great, and the above match with Sabu and the Jerry Lynn ones were some of my early tape trading favourites (ironically I think the Sabu 3PW match was one of my last favourites before I stopped trading) but I think Waltman himself will tell you he was nowhere near the best. Bret Hart was light years ahead of him in the early 90's, Benoit, Guerrero, Liger, Muta... Kid was great, but he was unique in the WWE only...
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted March 26, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 26, 2015 I never undertsood the term, "X Pac Heat". I used to enjoy seeing him come through the curtain, but evidently - and going by the moans and groans that greeted his arrival in his latter WWE years - a lot didn't.I was only watching the Rumble 96 on Tuesday and his whole interraction with Razor throughout that PPV was world class, especially as he kept checking behind him while making his way out to the Rumble match itself. Just a nice little touch.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted March 26, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 26, 2015 He got Eric Young over as a serious babyface in one night after years of trying. Still Young's best match. It only went about 30 seconds as well.

Liam O'Rourke
I'm all over this. To me the most underappreciated element of both DX and the nWo - he was fantastic in the Buddy Roberts role of the pissworm heel of the group you wanted to see alone, away from his nWo friends, take a shitkicking. And I'll always stick my my belief that Pac was the coolest member of the babyface DX, and after his great return promo I really believed he could have been more than they used him for. Â So many really good matches through his career to boot. Not just the famous Raw match with Bret or the sprint with Owen, but forgotten little gems like X-Pac and Tajiri from Summerslam 2000, or his great performance in the Six Man at Slamboree against Flair, Piper and Greene. Was very happy when he got to do that match with Generico in Chikara and remind everybody how good he really was.

Dr.PeterVenkman
If he'd been potted in mid 2000 I think he'd be thought of a bit more fondly, everything after him and Road Dogg split up was shite  Actually he was good in that Booker T backstage segment when he was trying to keep a straight face while Booker sang HBK's theme, other than that, shit feud with Road Dogg, shit feud with Jericho (who was on fire at that point), worst stable ever in X Factor (with the absolute WORST pro wrestling entrance theme ever) then joining the nwo and wearing shitty little cycling shorts  Was belting 94-99 though
The British Bushwacker
I think alot of the 'Xpac Heat' was down to him still parading about in his Dx coloured gear crotch chopping etc when DX was done and dead. Â Fantastic worker though, i'd love to see him even in 2015 up against the likes of Bryan & Ziggler
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted March 26, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 26, 2015 I really liked his 90s nWo and DX run. IMO, his tag team with Kane may have been the finest "odd pairing" tag team there ever was. Incredible how into their wee soap opera I was - until it all went a bit Russo. Â He had an absolute belter of a match with the future Sami Zayn a few years ago. Highlighted how great both men are.
TheShowOff
then joining the nwo and wearing shitty little cycling shorts   I don't blame him for this, he was in the most ripped and best physical shape (look wise) of his career.
