handspants Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I think the three nicest wrestling related people I've met aren't actually wrestlers; them being Bill Apter, Dixie Carter (say what you like about her running of TNA, she's a lovely person) and Prince Nana (anyone remember him? I still reckon he should be given a WWE shot as Kofi Kingston's manager)Of the actual wrestlers, Colt Cabana was sound as anything (despite his mate Punk being a bit of a nob).
DoinkBrah Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Scott Steiner. Â Saw him at Orlando Airport a we were checking in to fly home. Â Cause we're a bit cheap, we flew to Detroit first and he ended up being in the same line as me and my family. Â Really nice, didn't mind chatting to us, was really friendly to my daughter and was just a a nice bloke no matter how fan boy I probably came across.
C-Rock Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I worked on a show featuring Tracy Smothers and he was a really nice guy, I was in a car with him driving to the show and prior to us setting off we called in to Morrisons for some road snack and Tracy got some cooked chicken, he sat in the front passenger seat munching on chicken well telling us stories from his career and every so often throwing chicken bones out of the window and on to the A1, he made time to talk to everyone and was really just a genuinely nice guy. Â D.Lo Brown is another really good guy that I had the chance to work alongside, again he was just really friendly. He and Alex Shane bought me drinks at a hotel in Carlise as it was my 21st Birthday during a tour of Scotland and the west of England. Â The Honky Tonk man was friendly enough to me but no so much with others, perhaps it was because he had hurt his knee the day before the show he worked on that I refereed and I offered to carry his bags, he had his own private dressing room and asked me to hang around and after his match I said something to they effect of you were very entertaining and he responded that's what makes you smarter than half the other guys because you realise it's 90% entertainment and 10% actual wrestling and the guy who does 10 flips off the top rope won't be remembered as much as the guy who goes out and entertains the fans with his charisma etc (something to that effect anyway) he couldn't work a match because of his knee and his match only lasted maybe 5minutes but his entrance about 10mibutes and he had everybody up singing and dancing, he really popped the crowd it was very interesting to see a guy have the crowd in the palm of his hand and still have that ability, the crowd didn't care about the match (which was rotten) but they were highly entertained anyway, truly a veterans skill and it was brilliant to witness.
Paid Members herbie747 Posted March 6, 2015 Paid Members Posted March 6, 2015 Sheamus is probably the top one for me. Very friendly, really genuine, came across as a sincere, nice guy. D'Lo Brown, also very friendly and chatty with everyone.  Sheamus is a good personal friend of mine for years, and you won't meet a classier more genuinely sound bloke!  And definitely D'Lo - one of the coolest guys I've ever met.  I know people have mixed opinions on Alex Shane, but I've never once had a falling out with him having known him for 11 years now and had numerous business dealings. Sound guy.  Also - Jonny Storm, Colt Cabana, Jim Cornette, Jimmy Hart, Doug Williams, Madman Manson (double sound), M-Dogg 20 (aka Matt Cross), Jody Fleisch. These are people I've had lots of interaction with.  I travelled around with Raven when he came over after International Showdown to do an IWW tour, and I thought I was going to hate him - but he was so fucking cool. Grumpy funny bastard.  And ones I've just met briefly and seemed cool are Corino, Samoa Joe, Danielson, Bret Hart, Matt Hardy, Eddie Guererro.
Paid Members chokeout Posted March 6, 2015 Paid Members Posted March 6, 2015 Just following on from Chilli saying that Juvi is legit crazy I found this on my phone. Â Â Anyway. He's pretty much spot on about everything. I'd chuck Bully Ray in as a good guy. Was expecting the worst but he was chatty and having a pint in the back talking about Chikara of all things. Â Booker T is a gent. Was sat in the corner minding my own business between filming and he just wandered over and started chatting to me asking what I did. Spent a good 10 minutes chatting before Masters joined in as well.
Hounds Of Justice Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I have met a few wrestlers when I was younger, sat next to Spud's mom 10 years a go when he wrestled Jonny Storm, Spud was sound, seen him recently as well and was very polite to me despite the fact he was xmas shopping, Dave Mastiff I met when I went training when I was 18 and just cool to see how he has done well over the years. Â My favourite meeting ever was either CM Punk who wasn't an asshole but this was 12 years a go lol and Steve Corino, Corino just liked chatting to me about wrestling and Punk said I looked cool with my tramlines in my hair.
patiirc Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Met loads at PCW. Kendrick and London are standout's because they held court in the smoking area at Lava and Ignite and would talk the hind legs off a donkey. Smashing guys can not say enough good about them. Jonathan Gresham is a fantastic dude, very humble had a chat after his match with Mastiff at last years Road to Glory, very passionate and couldnt believe that he was getting the plaudits he was. Davey Richards was the same, just off his snafu with a promoter in the US I was expecting the worst but was very humble at the first show he was at, then again when met him at one of the anniversary shows. Elgin was the same. Scott Steiner was okay, but massively hungover/fucked. Ted Dibiase was amazingly great that Million Dollar Belt ways a tonne! Â Of the Brit Wres crew. Mad Man Manson is seriously one of the coolest guys full stop and would always have a chat about things, mainly Malvern related lol. Bubblegum, Trav, Kay Lee Ray, T-Bone, Dave Rayne and Zack Sabre Jr. Â Lionheart is also a great guy with the fans, even though I dont see eye to eye, because reasons.
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted March 6, 2015 Paid Members Posted March 6, 2015 Chris Sabin and Petey Williams were two that really stood out as sound and chatty. Same with Sheamus and Madman Manson (who I actually see in the Spar up near where I work on occassion and the cunt is in savage nick). Just lovely dudes. Think I only met Sheamus a couple of times in the past and I bumped into him at 3am in Burger King on O'Connell Street (this is before he went to the E) and he knew me by name. Genuinely good bloke. Â
DaveWWE88 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Definitely Kevin Nash, X-Pac & Scott Hall back in November 2013. They were very chipper and happy despite the whole Chris Duke fiasco but took some time to talk to fans and personally I wish I had more time to talk to them but it was great seeing them so positive regardless.
Jon-Carr_92 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Ultimo Dragon was an absolute top bloke when I went to see him a couple of years ago. Hadn't brought enough money for the Meet & Great which was a shame. I was getting my stuff together ready to go home, when all of a sudden, the guy himself actually went up to the merch table his entourage were at selling his merch and signed for free so everyone could meet him. Bought myself a promo pic which sits signed and framed at home. Â Mr Anderson was another great one and the top of the scale of the perfect import. Had a great match. Total Mark out moment when he came out. Drew an insane crowd. Sent me and everyone else at the M&G beaming! Â **EDIT - Forgot to add** Â Not a wrestler I know, but last week, I went to a comedy gig at Cheltenham Town Hall because Jim Smallman was on the bill. So I got a ticket just to see him. Sat front and centre, I went on my own. Bad idea when no one sits on the same block of seats as you, so I was next to 5 empty seats. The MC came out. I got absolutely destroyed by him. "Where's your friends?" To which I reply instantly with "No idea!" Brought the house down. Jim came out. Pointed me out for wearing my Progress shirt. Had a great laugh. MC came back after the first interval saying "Jim's gone home now and I didn't get a chance to talk to him about wrestling. I've never been into it and I always wanted to know, is it fake?" To which I respond "Yes and No." MC: "What do you mean by that?" My mind went blank and the only thing I could come out with was "It's complicated!" Was a target throughout the night. Â Jim actually Tweeted about me later that night along the lines of "Lovely gig in Cheltenham. Great to see a lone @ThisIs_Progress fan in the front row. You sir, are a legend!" Absolutely hilarious night!
Nick Hughes Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 At last years PCW/ROH show, I ducked out straight after the main, as it had been a long day. I bumped into Paul London and got chatting, we ended up walking out of town to our respective hotels. Kept me nattering outside my hotel for a while and left with a handshake. Rest of the weekend we kept bumping into each other and having a natter, and upon the end of the weekend, he came over and had a final talk. Great down to earth fella, who really made me feel at ease. Top bloke all round!
Grittynotpretty Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Kurt Angle and Kofi Kingston stand out to me as being guys that have gone above and beyond for me in wrestling. Always been a huge fan of Kofi and have a pretty decent collection of his memorabilia. Whenever I see him he always takes it time to look at the items ive brought and signs them however I ask. Genuinely nice guy. Â Same with Kurt Angle. He follows me on Twitter and always sends me a message to say how nice it is to see me after we meet. Never moans about whatever I have to get signed and takes a photo.
truthofsin Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I have to echo the earlier praise for Ultimo. Met hi ma couple of years back and he was a top bloke. Dixie Carter also deserves a mention, just a lovely woman who has time for fans and stopped to have a good natter. She also goes the extra mile with little kids, and you can see it makes the kids day. Christy Hemme is also lovely, and seems to love meeting fans. Â 3 i forgot to mention earlier that really left good impressions,, Â Jinder Mahal - A real class act, very friendly. Had a good laugh with him about the Union Jacks thing they were doing. Â The Bellas - Easily 2 of the nicest wrestling related folks i've ever met. Turned up late to the signing and they took the time to have a decent chat to me. Brie had been at the Eros Comedy William Regal show a couple of days before, so we got chatting about that, amongst other things. Most people you have to ask for a pic, i didnt event mention it and suddenly i had Nikki on one arm, Brie on the other. Wasn't complaining. Nikki turning to the Mrs with a cheeky smile and saying "you don't mind that i'm touching your man do you?" in a mischievous voice may well have made my year.Â
jonnybgoode82 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 So many guys have left good impressions over the years. Â Davey Boy when I met him at Cleethorpes Memorial Hall, had all the time in the world for everyone and even remembered me when I met him at Hull Ice Arena nine months later. Â Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were also sound as a pound at the same Hart Attack Tour event. Â Mikey Whipwreck and Ulf Hermann were a good laugh at the St Valentine's Day Massacre event in 1998. Â Jake Roberts was a top bloke and spent ages talking about the old days. Robbie Brookside continues to be one of the finest gentlemen in the sport. Stevie Knight is a veritable legend in the town of Grimsby. Â Rico was cool at a house show in 2003. Flair was ace when I went to one of his book signings, properly on top form. Â Finlay was a really nice bloke at a house show in 2003 too, he was an agent at the time. Â From the FWA days, Alex Shane always had a lot of time to chat and still does now. Xavier, I remember hooking him up with some Iron Maiden tickets for their 2003 tour, lovely fella. Jodie Fleisch was really nice too, ditto Birchall. Â From the recent TNA tours, mentions for James Storm, Bully Ray, JB, Earl Hebner, Hernandez, D-Lo Brown, The Pope, Chris Daniels, Rockstar Spud but extra special mentions for Kurt Angle, who sat down with me to chew the fat over a pint and Dixie Carter, who was an absolute sweetheart, made time for everyone and remembered me year-on-year and always made a point of saying hello and asking how my missus (who she never met) was. Â So plenty of cool memories there, the good has far outweighed the bad over time.
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted March 6, 2015 Paid Members Posted March 6, 2015 I met Randy Orton and he was fantastic, he has a reputation for being a twat but he was humble, funny and charming. It was at wrestlemania fan axxess though, he'd probably have been different if I'd pushed his daughter out of the way to get a picture with him while he was eating in a busy restaurant on his day off.
