Non-wrestler matches. Good ones.

There's been many non-wrestler matches. Some good, mostly bad. This is to celebrate the good.

As everyone knows THE BEST one is Jerry Lawler/Dr Linder vs Bill Dundee/Dr McCarver. Dr McCarver is a super amazing heel!

If you ain't seen it, watch it. Then come back and tell me that it isn't the best non-wrestler match ever and I'll laugh in your face and call you a fucking idiot. So yeah, good non-wrestler matches. Shoot.

Vince vs. Shane at Wrestlemania X-7 was pretty damn great. Few non-wrestlers, be they people working in the biz or celebs, could have a match of that quality on the grandest stage of them all.

I was actually thinking of K-Fed when I first saw this topic, but the Cena vs. K-Fed match on Raw wasn't much, was it? Federline was still an excellent heel for the time he was there, I recall hearing rumours that WWE wanted him back, too bad it never materialised.

Kevin Green in WCW didn't do too badly. I remember a 6-man tag (seem to recall it as Flair, Piper & Green vs. Hall, Nash & Syxx) that was absolutely loads of fun.

Yeah, Kevin Greene got it. Possibly why they kept bringing him back every year.

Buelah McGillicutty VS Fonzie is the one that always stands out for me. It's a genuinely loved babyface up against a truly despised heel in front of a rabid crowd and the bloodshed adds real drama. I submitted it for SOC's "100 matches" thread which sadly tapped out at 66, and I think it's really special.

LT was awesome at WrestleMania XI. Bam Bam Bigelow should have had a job for life after that. Instead, they tried blaming him for the buyrate. On a side note there was some horrendously unappealing matches on that card, by the way. Filled with celebrities as well. Relevant ones, too. Pamela Anderson, Jenny McCarthy, the little cunt from Home Improvement and a load of NFL players. They must have forgot that Backlund vs Bret and Jarrett vs Razor wasn't that exciting the first time around. Also, Bundy vs Undertaker? Ugh.

Echo the love for Kevin Greene. Might be my favourite non-wrestler ever. He just got it. He's who they wanted Steve McMichael to be, but never was. Totally had the right attitude for it, as well.

Wrestlemania 11 is a card that could have been legit better than it was with a touch of fantasy booking and not putting the fucking Harris Brothers on it.

Diesel w/LT vs Shawn w/Sid

Bret/Owen

Taker/Bammer

Lex/Tatanka

Blayze/Nakano

Smoking Gunns/M.O.M.

Razor/Jarrett

Stephanie McMahon seems to have had a few good ones:

- vs Trish at No Way Out 2001, at a time when both were non-wrestlers

- vs Vince at No Mercy 2004

- that recent one against Brie was pretty much all Steph

I quite enjoyed Hogan/Beefcake vs Savage/Zeus, although I'm not sure it counts when 75% of the workers are wrestlers and one of those is Savage.

I love Hogan vs Vince but I wasn't sure about including it. Comparing Vince to other non wrestlers seems a little unfair.

I agree - looking at Vince's body of work, his physique, his storytelling ability, his technical ability (i.e. bumping and selling and whatnot), his ability to make angles work, I always felt like Vince was pretty much a wrestler in all but name. He gave the strong impression that he could've given up the company tomorrow and gone into wrestling full-time if he wanted.

Slamboree 97. Completely disregarded / brushed off on TV that Flair and his mates did Greene over the year before, because it suited them. But then at the Great American Bash they had the Greene/Mongo revenge match, one month later. Of course, at Slamboree there you had Flair cosy with Greene despite their past, all babyface nicey-nicey, while Mongo was heeling it up against (fellow star of WrestleMania XI) Reggie White, appropos for this thread, which I recall being passable.

A real cluster of a spell for the Horsemen where they were babyfaces against the nWo but could be heels against someone else depending on what segment it was. Easy to be confused for a heel group when Jarrett's there, I guess. On a particular episode of Nitro, Benoit was a babyface when he was fighting the Dungeon but later on part of a very heelish group beating up of Piper, after he and Flair had their falling out. Of course, since they booted Jarrett out, you ended up in a situation by Bash at the Beach where Mongo (Horseman, seemingly babyface) was up against Jarrett (a heel), and Flair (Horseman, seemingly heel) against Piper (a face). Mess. And don't get me started on "Benoit feuds with Sullivan but Arn and Sullivan are mates."
