Moderators PowerButchi Posted September 11, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 11, 2014  Firefighters are tackling a blaze at Manchester Dogs' Home with reports that up to 40 animals have died. Crews were called to the care centre in Harpurhey - which is home to dozens of animals - early this evening. The extent of the blaze is not yet known - but it is understood that a number of animals are confirmed dead, the Manchester Evening News reports.    Police and four fire crews were at the scene after the 7.10pm alarm was raised. Pictures posted on social media show the building was well alight. Greater Manchester Police said the cause of the fire was being investigated. A spokesman confirmed: "Police and fire service are at the scene. Unfortunately, we believe a number of dogs have died as a result but we do not yet know the number." Pictures of the blaze were posted on social media by concerned people living near to the rescue home, which has capacity to care for 400 dogs. Residents said they could hear "dogs yelping'. Twitter user @Hoyles10 said: "Big fire at Manchester Dogs Home, apparently the building has collapsed, too late for the animals by all accounts.... Heartbreaking." And fellow user @MostonRedDevil wrote: "Manchester dogs home is on fire with all the dogs yelping." The home was established in 1893 and has provided shelter for over 1 million dogs.  http://www.mirror.co.uk/incoming/firefighters-battling-blaze-manchester-dogs-4205660#ixzz3D2YBmqh7 Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook  What a heartbreaking story. How the fuck can anyone be so fucking cruel as to do something like this? Dogs are innocent, like children or something. I honestly can't comprehend how someone could do something like that. Does anyone know if there's anyway people can help? Blankets and things like that?

WyattSheepMask
It's now been confirmed that the twat is 15, not 14. Fully expecting him to be a cocky little shit who when asked why he did it, he'll just say he was bored all the while smirking. I know that's me generalising massively, but will not be suprised one bit if it's accurate

Paid Members lambyUK Posted September 12, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted September 12, 2014 This world really is fucking horrible at this moment isn't it? It's stories like these that terrify me in what world I'm going to be raising my 5 month old son into? Â As a dog lover, as mentioned by others, the thought of those howling dogs makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach. Personally, I'm focusing on the good people have done in rescuing 150 of those animals so far.
