Paid Members nfc90210 Posted August 9, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted August 9, 2014 It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Â The City of London Police have arrested a man for running a proxy server. Â http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2014/08/uk-piracy-police-arrest-man-suspected-of-running-proxy-server/ Â ...The Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) has arrested a 20-year-old man in Nottingham on suspicion of copyright infringement for running a proxy server providing access to other sites subject to legal blocking orders... Â ...Now, when you visit Immunicity.org, you simply see a scary-looking takedown notice from the police, along with links to places where you can find legitimate content. This is a bit concerning, particularly as Immunicity doesn't host copyright-infringing content; it merely lets users route their traffic through the proxy network in the same way VPNs do... Undefeated Steak
I can imagine Facebook is full of the "They let immigrants steel our taxpayers' money but they arrest someone for sharing a file!" type comments tonight. Â You're right, though. It'll be interesting to see where they go with this.
