BullyRayStoleMyKitKat
Hey, first time poster (Did sign up a year ago, but life and its hurdles lol) Â Wanted to make a first post that wasn't "Hi, I'm Paul, and I really love Paige" (not that there's anything wrong with that!), so figured I'd try something: if it bombs, apologies! Â Basically, I have an interest in Alternate History - "What would have happened if Germany won WW2", as a basic example, and have always wondered how that kinda thing would relate to wrestling: No Screwjob, Benoit stays sane, etc. Â Â So - as an ambitious first post, I'm gonna stick up a scenario, and see if anyone has an interest. Anyone who wants to add their own, feel more than free to do so! Â Here goes... Â GIANT GONZALES IS THE 1 IN 2-1! Â The scene is WM IX. Inexplicably (we'll put it down to Vince's Big Man fetish), instead of the result we actually got, Vince books Giant Gonzales to win the match. Â Bearing in mind the streak as a precious entity wasn't touched on til much later, what would the fallout be from this? Â Does Taker retire earlier, with no streak to come back and defend each year? Is his legacy much the same, or lessened slightly with The Streak not a thing here? Â How does HBK retire, with no "Streak V Career" match to end it? And what else is changed along the way, by simply changing 1 result? Â If anyone is interested, the floor is yours...
Michael_3165
What if Montreal hadn't happened ? Bret and Shawn go to the planned no contest, Shawn wins the title on raw and bret leaves peacefully. Vince wouldn't have been the mega heel as a fall out n Austin wouldn't have had the year old fraud w Vince that dragged Taker, Kane n Foley into the mix. Â No beer bath, no zamboni, no bedpan McMahon , no highway to hell... Â Would WWE have caught fire as much without vince as the protagonist? bono
What would of happened without Hulk Hogan and Hulkamania?? Pro wrestling would never have got to that level and would we be watching wrestling today?
Dil|kid
What if Phil Mitchell hadn't had the affair with Sharon?
4tehlulz
My what if is....what if Austin never injured his neck in the match with owen hart? Â He wouldn't of had the time off obviously with a longer run as IC champ but for me it's the fact he wouldn't of needed to change his in ring style around, keeping his more technical style instead of embracing the more low impact, fun brawls he started using as I see them as a huge staple of the attitude era. Â No micheals and bret to have mechanical main event matches, maybe would of allowed the likes of shamrock to be his main rivals instead of brawls with Kane, taker and mankind. BullyRayStoleMyKitKat
What if Phil Mitchell hadn't had the affair with Sharon? Â Well, maybe no Babs Windsor as Peggy...

Pro wrestling would never have got to that level and would we be watching wrestling today? Â Â I'm glad that came up - this link isn't so much no Hogan whatsoever, but if he got injured just before the first Mania. Also, it's the inspiration behind this thread. bigfoote
What if....Steve Austin never won King of the Ring, never gave the 3:16 speech? Would we still have had the beer-swilling, ass kicking Texan who defined the Attitude era?

The Invisible Boy
All kind of about Stone Cold here: Â What if Austin never got the name Steve Austin? Would we be calling him Stone Cold Steve Williams or would everyone have just been calling him the other Steve Williams that isn't Dr Death? Â What if Austin never got fired from WCW? What if they treated him a bit better and gave him his chances and would he have received a chance in WCW and become Stone Cold there, would the Rattlesnake have been unleashed there and how would have that affected the Monday night wars and just the general WWF vs. WCW war? Â What if Austin never had his 3:16 speech? Would've he morphed into arguably one of the biggest wrestling stars of our generation, would wrestling have been considered as cool as it was during the late 90s boom period? Would there have ever been an Attitude Era? Would Vince McMahon have ever had the bad guy boss character vs. an anti hero? Austin was and is such a big part of wrestling and if just one of his big moments didn't happen or went a different way it is crazy to think how different things could have been. BullyRayStoleMyKitKat
OH! Here's one, and its inspired by a question in the Questions to Vince thread: Â What if Vince had tested Owen's zip line, and fallen instead?
The Invisible Boy
OH! Here's one, and its inspired by a question in the Questions to Vince thread:Â What if Vince had tested Owen's zip line, and fallen instead? Â Bloody hell that's a crazy thought, Shane McMahon maybe would have taken over the WWF? Wonder how different things would have gone then, just the whole company in general, or even if the company would still be going now if that had happened. Nothing to see here!
WOOOOOOOOOOO! A woo is a thing I can't do, not to any critical acclaim anyway. But what if the Nature Boy couldn't woo? How many world titles would that have taken off him? I wonder that sometimes. Really do.

I think there would have been some kind of "Regency Period" for Shane or Steph at that age: Maybe Patterson handles ring matters and Linda the business side until they learned more.
