Those are tag matches with more than 6 people in it, just in case you're a dunce.

These are probably my favourite kinds of matches. So let's talk about these and link to some matches in places so that I can watch them when I can't be arsed searching on YouTube.

Obviously most of The Shield ones have been fantastic and there have been other obvious great examples like Canadian Stampede and "....representing Los Boricuas, Savio Vega!" but one I always liked that I've wondered about the general consensus of was Team Austin v Team Bischoff from Survivor Series 2003. I loved it but for some reason I've always wondered if most people thought it was crap.

Austin vs Bischoff was amazing, HBK's pin on Christian is still one of my favourite moments in wrestling ever, in fact Michaels all the way through that might be my favourite performance of any wrestler in any match

WWF Raw on February 7, 2000 - Cactus Jack, The Rock, Too Cool & Rikishi v Triple H, X-Pac, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn.

Non stop action, tons of high spots, a white-hot crowd, characters that connected with the audience, and the return of Kane with Paul Bearer. Lovely jubbly.

Yeah, I have the impression it's been rather vocally wanked over on here, rightly so, for Michaels' (nearly) one-man show. It's tremendous, and the storytelling aspect with Austin throughout and at the end is really well done. Watching it at the time I suddenly had the impression Austin was going to beat Shawn up for letting him down but I was relieved he didn't, obviously. The mechanics of the Survivors match makes for some easy storytelling and the "babyface comes back from insurmountable odds to NEARLY win but doesn't" is a classic tale, one that one prompted me to start a thread about my favourite example.

Other than the slightly-obvious eliminators that actually happened at Survivors PPVs, there were a couple on SmackDown in the run-up to Survivors 99 that I really enjoyed. I was slightly disappointed in that over the mid-late 90s the actual Survivor Series tag team matches had become somewhat of a sideshow that the main eventers never actually appeared in any more, and there had been none in the '98 Deadly Games edition for obvious reasons, so I was really happy that the WWF gave us a couple of star-filled matches in the Survivor Series style on the way to the PPV.

04/11/99 : Rock, Austin, Shane & Kane VS DX

11/11/99 : Rock, Test, Shane & Kane VS DX

Though the angle was heavily derided at the time (and picked apart on here very recently) it needs pointing out that the Alliance storyline did yield a couple of very exciting and dramatic multi-mans, the "Inaugural Brawl" at Invasion which was riotous, and the eventual Winner-Take-All classic Survivors match told a very good story with a satisfying ending. Oh Vince, you scoundrel.

Everyone in the match played a part.

Hmm, I must be thinking of something else then. Ta for that post and recommendations as well.

Not only does the Evolution v Michaels/Benjamin/Foley/Benoit match have the GREATEST ENTRANCE OF ALL TIME but the match itself is great as well, I think.

Couple of randoms from the Coliseum era :

29/07/91 : Boss Man, Anvil & LOD VS Earthquake, Mountie & Nasty Boys *

21/07/92 : Natural Disasters & High Energy VS Money Inc & Beverly Brothers

* If Anvil looks a bit random considering who was feuding with who at the time, it's because he's subbing for Jake who didn't make the show.

And scattered others from TV (avoiding well-remembered PPV ones) ....

08/07/02 : RVD, Booker, Goldust, Buh Buh & Spike VS Nash, X-Pac, Big Show, Eddie & Benoit

20/11/06 : Cena, DX & Ric Flair VS Rated RKO, Big Show & Kenny (Spirit Squad)

04/12/06 : DX & Hardys VS Rated RKO & MNM

21/04/08 : HHH, Cena, Undertaker & Kane VS Edge, Orton, JBL & umm... Chavo...

There is a dark match knocking about that's HHH, Jericho, Christian & 3MW vs various 2002 midcard babyfaces, but I couldn't find a complete version.

You might not remember amidst obvious PPV ones like Cena's team v Nexus, Bragging Rights ones, Mania VIII, the time-cancelled Mania X one that got shunted to Raw and the Canadian Stampede one, an 8-man from Unforgiven 2002 featuring Booker T, Goldust, Kane & Buh Buh Ray Dudley VS Test, Regal, Christian and Lance Storm.

Incidentally the mention of Canadian Stampede always makes me think of the tease for the 10-man that never happened, on the 14/07/97 Raw, where the Harts were in the ring and were stared down from the ramp by Stone Cold, HBK, Sid, Ken Shamrock and The Patriot. At the time I thought that would have been incredible.

I thought they cocked it, personally. The live crowd thought Fuji had turned face.

Just throwing some Japanese stuff in here...

Eight Person Elimination Tag Match - NOAH/SEM - August 17th 2008 - Kenta Kobashi, KENTA, Atsushi Aoki and Akihiko Ito vs. Kensuke Sasaki, Katsuhiko Nakajima, Takashi Okita and Kento Miyahara

A superb matchup featuring the legendary Kobashi and Sasaki, as well as up-and-coming stars KENTA and Nakajima. Oh, and there's some young lions in there too! The bout is super heated (thanks to the always reliable Korakuen hall crowd), and everything flows very well indeed. If you've got 45+ minutes to check this bout out, I'd highly recommend it.

Eight Person Tag - NOAH Great Voyage - December 10th 2006 - Akira Taue, MushiKing Terry, Taiji Ishimori and Atsushi Aoki vs. SUWA, TARU, Shuji Kondo and Brother YASSHI

Team NOAH vs. Team Voodoo Murders! Taue hates everyone and loves squashing junior heavyweights. There's plenty of clobbering and high flying moves in this chaotic bout. Well worth tracking down!

Eight Person Elimination Tag Match - AJPW - July 28th 1993 - Team Misawa vs. Team Kawada

If you like 90's AJPW, you'll love this. If you haven't seen 90's AJPW, you'll probably enjoy it anyway. So much hatred, so many fantastic moves, so well paced...

Eight Person Tag Match - Kensuke Office - November 2nd 2008 - Sasaki, Tenryu, Takayama & Suzuki vs. Kawada, Ohtani, Yoshie and Saito

STAR POWER! Many legends are involved in this match, and it doesn't disappoint. Lots of high power moves, chops, slaps, elbows and BOMBS!

I think the Canadian Stampede entrances trump the Evolution entrance, hands down. Then the match itself trumps the Radicalz/DX/Rock/Foley one, and (I think) the HBK Survivor Series one (though I havent watched that match in years). Insane heat for the Americans, then God like reactions for even someone like Anvil, with his generic entrance music. Im sure there are loads of people on here who can recall Pillman's or Bret's entrance, and the first exchange between Austin and Bret like it happened yesterday.

The six-man tags between Jumbo/Taue/Fuchi/Ogawa vs Misawa/Kawada/Kobashi/Kikuchi throughout the early 90s are all gold. Just checked my external drive, and Ive got 20 of them, and I guarantee all of them would be a blast to watch. Especially the ones at the Korakuen, which always seems to make them a bit more special.

Edit: Just thinking back, theres a bunch of BURNING (Kobashi, Honda, Kikuchi, Kenta) vs STERNNESS (Akiyama, Saito, Kanemaru, Hashi) matches from the glory days of NOAH which are all fantastic, too. Pretty much impossible to have a bad match with this lot at this time.

The entrances for Stampede are ruined by Davey clapping along in time with Owen's music like a cheesy old man at a wedding do.

Survivor Series 2003, that Team Austin vs Team Bischoff match is one of my all time favourites, perfect drama. I didn't really love the whole Austin vs. Bischoff feud that spanned roughly a year on Raw, because they had some of the stupidest shit ever (Redneck Triathlon) and it was a non wrestler vs. a guy that couldn't wrestle any more, so it was hard to see where the satisfying payoff could be. HBK made the whole thing worth it though.

It's not exactly what this thread is about- I'm guessing it's meant to be 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 matches- but the Fatal 4 Way tag ladder match at Armageddon 2006 deserves a mention. Everyone remembers it for Joey Mercury's face exploding, but it was actually a brilliant match, and an unexpected gem on what was looking like a pretty shit show. The stuff with Regal and Dave Taylor is brilliant as well, great way to entertain in a ladder match without risking much.

I've always felt that it's really hard to have a boring multi-man tag team match. It's near to impossible.

The Dragon Gate six man from ROH Supercard of Honor is always the one that sticks out to me, because of how much it completely blew me away watching it. The absolute best just has to be the Canadian Stampede though. Nuclear heat and brilliant action from bell to bell with pretty much everyone getting to have a decent amount of time showing their best, and all ten men just brawling like fuck.

Here it is.

Good shout on CS. Surely Hawk's last great big time match - Pillman too.
