Benoit & Chavo tag team... July 18th, 2014

Recommended Posts

That's David Benoit, Chris Benoit's son. Courtesy of lordsofpain.net (yeah I know):

- We noted before that David Benoit, the son of Chris Benoit, had been training with guys like David Hart Smith and had expressed interest in getting into pro wrestling.

Smith Hart announced on Twitter last night that Benoit will make his in-ring debut on July 18th at a Hart Legacy Wrestling event in Calgary. Benoit will team with Chavo Guerrero in a tag match.

If this is legit, thoughts? Can't see WWE going anywhere near him, and I'm very surprised he wants to do pro wrestling given the toll it took on his father.

Edit: Here's the Twitter link- Smith Hart Twitter

We had some chat about him a few months ago where Butch (IIRC) mentioned that he still absolutely loves and idolises his dad, and that his Facebook is full of pictures of him. There was also some story about him staring down a policeman or something. He's an odd dude by all accounts, so I dunno how easily he'll be put off.

If he's a weirdo, then no.

But I guess..... if OJ Simpson's son turned out to be a world class footballer, would you not sign him? The WWE would never have him there under the Benoit name, but I can conceive they might give him a gimmick. Still very unlikely though.

If the son idolised OJ Simpson despite OJ Simpson murdering his brother, you'd probably give him a wide berth.

This kid might get a living wage off the "STIFF GERMANZ > MURDER, PLUS SULLIVAN DID IT ANYWAY, PUT BENOIT IN HOF, EVIL VINCE" crowd on the indies. But if he's going around thinking his dad's a great man, you could never trust him anywhere near a WWE appearance. MVP could put the word in and get him a job at TNA though. I can imagine it being easy enough to persuade Dixie he'd make a good signing.

And it surely doesn't help that he's got his dad's face. Even if WWE somehow wanted to hire him in the future, even if they brought him in under a different name, he's still got his dad's face. Unless they stuck him under a mask, forever. Or made him get plastic surgery.

Any pictures?

Think he would deffo have to go under a mask.

Pegasus Kid Jrn? :-)

Even if Benoit didn't kill his family etc, doubt WWE would allow him to use the Benoit name (See Michael McGuillity, Husky Harris etc)

See Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted Dibiase, Tamina Snuka, David Hart Smith etc

Get him hired. WWE spend a shitload of money on vignettes trying to tell the audience the guy they're about to see is a viscous fighter they should take seriously and ultimately fear. With this guy it'd take about three press cuttings.

His theme music could be "Who let the dogs out?"
