On the day I was born the WWF ran a town you've never heard of called Westborough, MA and delivered a reasonably nondescript house show line up. All the usual suspects wrestled on the undercard - Andre, Snuka, Fuji & Saito, Jay Strongbow, Putski, Pedro - in uninteresting matches. The two main events were WWF Champion Bob Backlund beating Randy's dad, and Andre winning an 18-man battle royal featuring everyone that had wrestled on the card.

The interesting thing for me was that the opening match featured Sherri Martel (24 at the time) in tandem with Penny Mitchell, losing to reigning champion (and one of Sherri's mentors) Moolah and Donna Christianello. Sherri had a run in New York between June and September '82 exclusively losing to Moolah in singles and tag team matches. I had no idea she had been in the WWF before becoming a star in the AWA. The WWF was at MSG the following Monday night with a card that featured Dynamite vs Tiger Mask, and Backlund defending the belt against Buddy Rose, whose entourage that night included The Grand Wizard, Judy Martin... and Sherri Martel.

Also on my birthday, Harley Race beat Dusty Rhodes (as was his wont) in Kansas City, Roddy Piper, Wahoo McDaniel and Jay Youngblood main evented Bumfuck Sumter, South Carolina against Paul Jones, Leroy Brown and Sir Oliver Humperdink, The Freebirds (Hayes & Gordy) beat The Wild Samoans in Anniston, Alabama but the REAL action was Continental in Owensboro, Kentucky :

1) Ric McCord defeated Jim Mitchell

2) Dennis Condrey and Carl Fergie defeated Steve Keirn and Ric McCord

3) Stan Lane and Terry Taylor defeated Bobby Eaton and Sweet Brown Sugar by disqualification

4) Jerry Lawler defeated Kamala

5) Battle Royal won by Dutch Mantell

Look at that! Sweet Stan and Terrific Terry against Beautiful Bobby and Koko, The King against a monster heel, Dirty Dutch winning a battle royal. The Jerries knew what they were doing, they really did.

Although the best thing to happen in wrestling on my birthday in any year, was my hero beating Mr Perfect for the Intercontinental title.

I'm most proud of the fact I share a birthday with Vince McMahon (not the same year though!)

Well, if we're going to be like that I share a birthday with that deity of wrestling, Petey Williams.

I have Andre the Giant and Big John Studd main eventing on two different shows, one in Minnesota, one in Montreal (Jan 29th 1985). Seems unlikely?

Matinee and evening show? 2 shows per day at the weekend were a possibility

Minnesota is hardly around the corner from Montreal, though.

Nothing at all on my actual birth date, although I was apparently born on the same day as someone called Mini Histeria.

Hayabusa made his debut on my 9th birthday, Louie Spicolli debuted on my 6th birthday and someone called Nemesis did on my 26th birthday (presumably not the Britwres klutz). WWF Insurrextion happened on my 19th. It looks competent, although it was a UK WWF PPV so I imagine it was totally half-assed:

1 Eddie Guerrero defeated Grandmaster Sexay (4:30 minutes)

2 Radicalz (Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko) defeated Holly Cousins (Hardcore Holly and Crash Holly) (5:37 minutes)

3 Bradshaw defeated Big Show (3:20 minutes)

4 4-Way Elimination Match

Edge and Christian defeated Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley); Hardy Boyz (Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy); X-Factor (X-Pac and Justin Credible) (13:20 minutes)

5 2 out of 3 Falls Match

Chris Benoit defeated Kurt Angle by 2 falls to 0

6 Chris Jericho defeated William Regal (14:46 minutes)

7 2 on 1 Handicap Match

The Undertaker defeated The Power Trip (Steve Austin and Triple H) (17:12 minutes)

Dragon Gate run a show called DEAD or ALIVE every year on my birthday (that's kind of them, although I haven't seen any).
