Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted February 13, 2014 Author Paid Members Share Posted February 13, 2014 I don't think this will do very well. With or without DC and Rashad I thought that. I hope I'm wrong and it does really well because I think it's a great fight. But I just don't see it. If Rousey fought McMann in December and this was the Tate rematch, I think it'd do good but there doesn't seem to be the same interest in this one. A combination of McMann's beige personality, a lack of any grudge and fans getting a ton of Ronda on their TV since September. I like Ronda staying active but it might actually dilute her as an attraction if they keep going to the Ronda well without giving her and fans much of a rest. Shane O' Mac Version 2
The lack of a grudge is a big thing. Going back to our frequent Ronda/Brock comparisons, the Mir fights were huge but there wasn't much buzz for Lesnar vs. JDS. Brock just couldn't bring himself to rip through nice guy JDS. Â This really exposes the lack of depth in the UFC at the moment, at least in terms of marketable stars. Ronda's about the only healthy big name we have right now, everyone else is injured and/or walked away. UFC need Ronda right now, but overexposure could be an issue. It's a real catch 22. Ross18
Real shame for Cormier. He seems pretty upset too. Â Losing all that weight and working hard and then not going to be able to fight at the end of it all. Must be pretty gutting. Seems he's willing to fight anyone though next week. Be it at LHW or a HW.
Rey_Piste
If Sonnen did step in I don't see him wining it in any manner. Both guys wrestling skill cancel each other out so when it comes to the stand up DC win. If Sonnen attempts to take it to the ground DC is a better wrestler, so I would see him on his back getting battered.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 13, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted February 13, 2014 Cormier-Evans is rebooked for UFC 172. Â Looks like 170 has lost its co main event.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 13, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted February 13, 2014 oooh no, change of plan again. DC stays on 170, he's fighting this dude. Â Patrick Cummins, 4-
Paid Members lambyUK Posted February 13, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted February 13, 2014 Helwani was calling this yesterday and from what I can gather Cummins has massive potential. A high level wrestler who's finished all his opponents in the 1st round. Â Could be very interesting.
Ross18
Also appears they have wrestled and trained together in the past and Cummins said he made Cormier cry. Â So interesting indeed.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted February 13, 2014 Author Paid Members Share Posted February 13, 2014 He also claims he made Cormier cry when they trained together in the past. Bit of a Some Fucker Version 2 but it's way more interesting because this guy sounds like he has real potential. Imagine if he came in and upset Daniel Cormier in his UFC debut? Madness! Â Beaten to it on the crying bit. Â This is the best outcome for everyone. The card benefits from keeping DC on there, DC hasn't cut weight for nothing and Cummins gets a big opportunity out of it. If Cormier wins they could possibly still book the Rashad fight anyway.
METAL ON METAL
Great to see him get the fight, he's been highly touted in the usual places for quite a while now. Campaigned hard for the fight today too. Â What's interesting is he & Cormier are former teammates in the US national wrestling squad - he's a two time All-American wrestler. And according to Cummins, he used to get the better of Cormier in training all the time. Â Looking forward to that fight more than the original Cormier/Evans fight. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted February 13, 2014 Author Paid Members Share Posted February 13, 2014 Tried to add Cormier vs Cummins to the poll but anyone who already voted wouldn't be able to vote on that fight so I've deleted the poll and re-added it. So you're all going to have to vote again, soz. Thought it would be interesting to see how the votes go on this fight.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted February 13, 2014 Author Paid Members Share Posted February 13, 2014 Some more Cummins stuff on twitter. Â Helwani tweeted that Cummins was working at a coffee shop when the call came from Dana White. The coffee shop manager actually fired Cummins for taking Dana's phonecall. Dana reportedly said to Cummins - "Tell your manager to go fuck themselves and go to the gym, you got the fight." Â What a story. I'm a Cormier fan but this just makes you want to see Cummins pull it off.

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 13, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted February 13, 2014 it's a weird situation but im fully on board with this, be interesting to see what comes out in the next few days regarding their histories.
Shane O' Mac Version 2
Ooh, I love a good underdog story. Despite having the name and look of a gay porn star, this guy is apparently legit, so it'll be nice to see a possible upset. I hope DC doesn't play it too safe though, that's the only issue with these last minute replacement. Cormier might just smother him for 3 rounds to prevent any hassles. Cormier's wrestling should be far superior.
