Fighting in sport

Excluding 'combat' sports such as boxing, wrestling, MMA, etc, what are your favourite fight videos of sports teams fighting? Alternatively, post up any of your faves where you watch it and think "Why did they bother, they look pathetic?!"

I'll start off with a few:

Calgary Flames V Anaheim Ducks -

Long video, but filmed in real time at the game.

Coventry Blaze V Nottingham Panthers -

Ignore the burke commentating. He's a twat at the best of times.

Indiana Pacers V Detroit Pistons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI6OkXntGLI "Malice at the Palace"

Are some of these fights just for show?

In the Cov vs Notts hockey fight, that guy's having a tumble with the goalie and the other two (who, according to the commentator are the ones that people are wanting to see fight) are stood next to each other going "Shall we have a fight then?"

"Erm.. not yet. Wait until it calms down over there so all eyes are on us"

"Alright. About now?"

"Yeah"

*Grabs shirt and swings wildly*

Then, after the bench clearing brawl where everyone's attacking everyone, they skate around the ice calmly sorting out whose stick it whose.

In the first one, they wait for the ref to blow the whistle before "spontaneously" throwing the gloves off. The commentators are criticising the manager for not putting his better fighters on the ice for that fight. Why would a manager base match tactics on who's the most likely to get sent off?

In the rugby one, they're grinning at each other just before they start swinging.

I think the Flames/Ducks one was about "Sending a message" that they won't be pushed around and once it kicked off one way, the other team was going to respond. Players who are more known for fighting in ice hockey are more expendable than those that have skills. If you lose a 'goon' it won't make any difference on the ice as your skilled players can still play the game, but if you lose your skilled players then you're left with goons who most likely won't get you goals and win you a game.

The Blaze/Panthers one was a bit more "Everyone wants to see us go, so we'll move away from the main melee and then have the scrap when everyone else has calmed down a bit". In ice hockey there is a growing amount of "show fights" which isn't good IMO, as I much prefer the 'emotional' fights to 'who's the hardest?'.
