A lot of people here are fans of the Carry On film series, as shit happens, they tend to be the best posters.

So, PROJECT. CHALLENGE.

Let's all join brains AND WRITE A NEW CARRY ON!

I'm not actually joking, if anyone fancies the conferencing and bemoaning the losses of Butterworth and Bresslaw give me a PM, as I think a group script for one could be fun as shit.

Will this be under "fantasy booking" rules or is this from scratch type stuff? Where you can have Owen Hart vs Sheamus at SummerSlam 2014? Or are you thinking new cast who aren't dead and the remaining live characters (like the later stuff), and base the script around that? Either way, I live in a city which holds an Empire that Sid James is said to haunt. So I could get him on board for this. And without Sid James, I can't be involved in this project.

Strangely enough i was thinking the other day about how its odd no one has tried remaking or just making a new a carry on film.

Didn't think it would be this place but someone like James Corden.

Sorry.

They have. There was (and possibly still is) an attempt to get Carry On London made, with such British comedy greats as Denise Van Outen.

There was a similarly ill-fated attempt to get the Confessions Of... series reignited too in the 90s.

Remaking a Carry On style film also exists on my list of things to blow my Lottery winnings on. My approach would be to gather an ensemble of largely unknown actors and actresses, and get two or three films made back to back so that they're introduced to the masses as those characters so I can blur the lines between on-screen and off-screen personality in the way that most of the classic Carry On cast have been.

The look would also be important, with an attempt to mimic that highly saturated look of the classic British comedies.

And you set the first one of the reboot in 1970. In their heyday, that would have been the contemporary setting (Camping), while the Dick/Henry/Cleo ones were historical, but if you start it off in the 70s, you can root that style of humour with the audience again. Cheeky letches, mummy's boys, ladies with big knockers and double-entendres based around the word 'it' -- a 70's setting will re-establish all those things that have been lost, without seeming anachronistic, and then you can move on to other settings and time periods.

You know what would be good? Carry On Wrestling. A Carry On inspired promotion (or simply a touring show) mixing WOS style grappling with bawdy seaside humour. Get round the town halls and aim for that silver pound. You don't need to worry about the quality of the wrestling, it's all about the characters. There's a massive market there, I guarantee my Gran would go.

Yep

Sid in Carry On Henry was still Sid. Going historical too early means Richard III would be Richard III, and not the twitchy neurotic one in the place of Richard III.
