Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 16, 2013 Paid Members Posted September 16, 2013 So chuffed. Words cannot describe my happiness at the result tonight. Finally justice prevail. They've beat him down for ages, but it was all to build to this moment. Can't express how happy I am that Hulk Hogan won the Greatest WWE Champion poll. Â The rest of the event ranged from boring to decent. Definitely felt like a B-show. It seemed like the pacing was well off. The main seemed to start really late. They had to get through three matches in the last hour. I liked the main event. Wasn't expecting Bryan to win the belt, though. Even up until the final seconds of the celebration I was expecting a swerve. Happy to see Bullyback and Heyman as a pair, too. Â Happy for the Stinger as well. Lot of love for old Steve in the WWE Universal it seems.
Paid Members gmoney Posted September 16, 2013 Paid Members Posted September 16, 2013 What was with the fast count? That's got to play into Raw tomorrow and a stripping of the belt or something, especially given the referee confusion generally.
MungoChutney Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 There's bound to be some sort of rematch tomorrow night as the 3 count looked a little fast and the ref being down and replaced before rejoining the match will probably lead to a rematch with Orton getting the belt back.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted September 16, 2013 Moderators Posted September 16, 2013 If the fast count means we're going to get Bryan vs Scott Armstrong, I'll be chuffed. Â We won't though. Shame. They'd put on a cracker.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 16, 2013 Author Paid Members Posted September 16, 2013 This might play into it. Stephanie McMahon ✔ @StephMcMahon @WWEDustyRhodes please accept this invitation to attend RAW this Monday in Cleveland. I have a business proposition for you. Thank you.  I dont know what this all means, but the Rhodes family getting involved in the McMahons business recently, and then the finish with the referees all seems fishy. They might do the Dusty finish, where Bryan isn't the champion due to a cluster fuck at the end of the bout.
METAL ON METAL Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Decent show, nothing special - though they really shouldn't have put Miz/Fandango on it. Speaking of that, why the hell was Miz kicking Fandango in the balls out of nowhere (surely that's what the heel should be doing) and why in the modern age of WWE where low-blows are outlawed did the ref do nothing? Poorly thought out, which I guess goes hand in hand with the Miz as a face. Â Â Seems pretty obvious that HHH will probably strip Bryan of the title on Raw because of the fast count.

Considering that the announcers didn't acknowledge the fast count and are presenting it as a clean win, I can either see the decision being reversed tomorrow night and Orton being re-awarded the title or just a rematch with another screwy finish resulting in Orton getting the belt back.

Especially when Dusty get's forced to Dusty Finish tonight's main event.  #MidnightRider
Shane O' Mac Version 2 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Decent show, nothing special - though they really shouldn't have put Miz/Fandango on it. Poorly thought out, which I guess goes hand in hand with the Miz as a face.  Seems pretty obvious that HHH will probably strip Bryan of the title on Raw because of the fast count. That was the thigh surely, when he was caught in the corner?  Detroit deserve credit for being a fairly lively crowd tonight, when they weren't given much to be lively about. They'd have been well within their rights to shit all over the show. I did find it funny that they started a "boring" chant after Curtis Axel spoke a sentence. Curtis Axel was probably the most impressive guy on the card, I liked his opener with Kofi and the handicap match with Punk. Just about everyone else never got out of second gear.  The main event was just odd. It wasn't bad, but you just know that result won't stick. The crowd seemed to be waiting for HHH to ruin the party, as was I. And if he actually has won it and that's all (folks), then the timing is very weird and I'm disappointed that Orton vs. Bryan wasn't better. Like RVD/Del Rio, they seemed to be holding back a bit for a future meeting.
Paid Members air_raid Posted September 16, 2013 Paid Members Posted September 16, 2013 Considering that the announcers didn't acknowledge the fast count and are presenting it as a clean win, I can either see the decision being reversed tomorrow night and Orton being re-awarded the title or just a rematch with another screwy finish resulting in Orton getting the belt back. Â Basically. Hunter told the ref "if you think Randy's goose is cooked, do a fast count so that's our excuse to fuck Bryan again." Makes sense. Live crowd seemed happy enough, regardless. Â LOL @ Bertie's self-DQ finish in the European title match. I still can't believe they use that finish for a title match on PPV in 2013. Giving a match on the PPV a weak 80s finish like that so you can build to a rematch is lazy and unimaginative - you've got TV to build up your PPV matches, people pay to see something clear cut. Here's a novel concept - Del Rio wins a close-fought match by the skin of his teeth or perhaps in a shady manner (but he gets a pin), then people want to see the rematch because of how good the first meeting was? Or because they want to see RVD get another crack? I hate the obvious nature of it as the "they're fighting again next month" finish. Don't use a match people have paid to see to try and sell them another match!
hallicks Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Orton's either getting it back tomorrow or at the next one in a few weeks. I'm disappointed with the fast count ending for the babyface. They could have just as easily screwed Bryan out of it later without a ref having "helped" him win the title. Â Also, really shit ref bump. Â Bryan basically had to win after there were no other title changes, otherwise the whole point of it being called "Night of Champions" was a bit moot. Â Too many shit finishes tonight, disappointed. They'll do well to sell the next one after that.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted September 16, 2013 Moderators Posted September 16, 2013 They'll do well to sell the next one after that. Â Calm down. It wasn't Starrcade '97.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted September 16, 2013 Paid Members Posted September 16, 2013 Of course, in my mind WWE rigged the voting (like both men needed it, anyway) because wrestling's Murtaugh & Riggs are coming to the big leagues. Now they will return and WWE will be tugging money out of their Japs eye. Â Anyway, the finish was quite clever. Bryan pretty much had Orton beat clean, but the ref is a dodgy bastard and did a fast count, so Bryan will be forced to hand over the belt to Mr. H and co.
The Cum Doctor Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 That pop. I'll remember that for fucking ages. They made a star last night, although he was probably already made before that.
The King Of Swing Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 They could have just as easily screwed Bryan out of it later without a ref having "helped" him win the title. Â No one will care about the fast count because Bryan clearly had Orton pinned for a 30 count. Armstrong will probably take the heat for screwing Bryan. Â It's perfect booking if they go the Dusty finish route tonight because the fans were sent home happy on the night of the PPV and Bryan will have failed to get the Title while still being presented as a star and not looking like a tool, and he can now move onto other feuds for a while before getting another crack at the Title. Â As long as they don't make a habit out of that kind of thing it's fine. Â That ADR/RVD finish was the absolute pits though and that is the kind of booking that should have been left in the 1990's where it belongs.
