DarrylB1979 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Hi everyone I just wondered why no one ever talks about Extreme American Wrestling (EAW), I try to catch at least one of there show's every month they always put on a great show and in the last two months have brought in Sabu & Doug Williams but still no mention of them on here. The set up always look's great they always have a sell out at the Rushden show's. Always have lot's of DVD's of the previous show's incase you have missed one. I would highly recommened that if you get the chance to see any of there show's that you jump at it always a great night of action.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 8, 2013 Paid Members Posted September 8, 2013 I'll take a stab in the dark and assume you have something to do with this group then.
DarrylB1979 Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 Nope I have nothing to do with them or anyone else just a fan
d-d-d-dAz Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Then do you always speak like you're doing a cheap 30 second infomercial?
DarrylB1979 Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 nope I just wonder why there never seem to get any mentions on here?
d-d-d-dAz Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Because their promotion seems to amount to nothing more than a poorly put together attempt to fool an Internet message board.
Froggivizal_Version1.0 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Is this the new thing? Filling up the front page with "What do you think about this british fed?" threads? Because you can justify it with ICW, but I'm not sure more than a handful of people actually have any form of opinion on however EAW are. Â But I hate the name.
cobystag Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 The names absolute shit. I don't care for but can understand the whole "LIVE AMERICAN WRESTLING" thing on posters, but an English promotion actually referring to itself as "American Wrestling" in the name? Ugh. Â By a general rule of thumb I would be very skeptical of wrestlers who only wrestle for the one promotion or in the one area where all the playmotors book the people who book them on their shows. Looking at the EAW roster I've never heard of nor seen 90% of their talent so would not go 1 mile outside my front door to attend one of their shows.
Vamp Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I didn't talk about them because I'd never heard of them. Now I've heard of them I'll talk about them but I'll be a meanie and say "if they've got extreme in their promotion name or their British and call themselves American then I'm extremely (see that I did there) unlikely to watch them because I'm American (see what I did there)."
robbo9292 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Yeah people have to have watched them to be able to talk about them and i'm sure 98% of their fans aren't on this forum.
Pier Six Brawler Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Is this a real promotion or just some fly by night group? The fact that it's a British promotion calling itself "American wrestling" makes me think the latter.
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted September 9, 2013 Paid Members Posted September 9, 2013 Nick who promotes EAW is not to everyones taste, I am sure he will admit that, but also he does not care. They put a lot of effort into their shows. Good set, good production and draw decent crowds. They are not aimed at a smart market they are aimed at getting as many people through the door as possible. People I know who have worked for them say they are easy to work for so what more could you wish for from a promoter. They are not fly by night in the slightest from what I have seen.
Paid Members Big Benny HG Posted September 9, 2013 Paid Members Posted September 9, 2013 No-one talks about them on there because there isn't really much to say. That's not an insult, it's just that, as I understand it, they run the style of one-off, family-friendly touring shows that comes into town, puts on 'the wrestling', then packs up and moves on. Like the circus. Â It's a one-off night's worth of entertainment, fine for what it is, and probably quite enjoyable if you do go along to see them, but there isn't pages and pages worth of discussion you can have about upcoming shows, announced line-ups, storylines, anticipated matches, where feuds are going, etc because that's simply not the nature of what they do. It's the same reason you don't see much about All-Star Wrestling... or LDN... or 1st Class... or Phil Powers' shows... or The Guvnor's... or EPW... or probably loads more.
streamingfreedom Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Probably because they're bloody awful. For every Doug Williams, Sabu and Shanna (not regulars by the way) there's an andy reign, nate nitro, taylor made, dan darkstar, sam steel - all dreadful dreadful examples of wrestlers. Nick bourne isn't "to everyone's taste" probably because he's not only a shockingly bad worker but an intolerable twat of a human too with a staggeringly misplaced ego. Yeah they have a great setup of entranceway, lighting, ring with ropes far too high so they make everyone under 6 foot tall look like a dwarf but if a turd is dressed up with salad and champagne, it's still a turd. Their dvds are really badly produced too, dark arenas making the video bleed and blur. Â As previously mentioned the name is awful and they are very ldn-esque in that they put on a family show which just sells wrestling like the circus - which is great and good fr that individual show BUT if they roll into town, draw and put on a shitty effort, then they kill the area as well as making brit wrestling look like the second rate poor imitation it so often gets regarded as by the man in the street. Â Advice - try and be more covert in your plugging of a fed next time.

I haven't seen any of their shows but I have spoken to Nick on a couple of occasions. He seemed very professional. They hire their shows out and I was curious if this would be a good way to learn the promoting side of wrestling so I made a few enquiries. They seem to know what they're doing but apart from one or 2 names they didn't have many people on the roster I thought would draw in this area and I didn't want to limit it to just the "All Star target" crowd. Plus I decided to run an idea past the local promoter to get him on board rather than step on his toes close to his area and sink money into something where if it failed it would be because of me, not someone else's product. If it wasn't for those 2 things I'd have been pretty confident working with Nick from the impression I got with him, I just wouldn't go to a show he was running just because it's a family show and after going to one of All Star's and it being overly pantomime I'm just not the type of person they market too and they don't need to they do OK with their current crowd.
