The Official UKFF RAW Thread...

What frustrates me about the free signings is that its just names now on such and such show, no reasoning, no development on character, no TV time (given they have plenty to work with). It's just here we go these have all moved here.

Would have been nice to see some of these names either have promos (even on YouTube) or on Social Media (Drake did this well with the 24/7 title), feature in matches trying to prove themselves (like Heath Slater the other year).

Just feels so generic and meaningless.

I can't believe I'm asking this but how did all this Rusev/Lana/Lashley thing start? I must have missed something. Why aren't Rusev and Lana getting along?

They started doing an angle where Maria Kanellis was humiliating Mike on the regular, calling him a pathetic loser etc. She then insinuated that someone other than him was the father of the baby she is pregnant with cos his knob is too little to get the job done, or something. Rusev then returned to TV by squashing Mike and it was hinted that Rusev was the father.

Then all of a sudden it was decided they'd do the same basic angle but with Rusev getting humiliated and Lashley as the bull. Probably because a) Vince decided the angle needed to be transferred to bigger stars, and b) because Vince has always thought Rusev was too ugly to be with Lana and therefore tries to split them up via angles.

But basically, it started when Paul Heyman discovered a liking for cuckold porn.

A fairly average raw with some promising in-ring action. The talent on the roster has immense potential... The writing on the other hand?

I'm not buying the Cain Velasquez shit. Granted, he's got a legitimate background but looks like the uncle you made cool stories up about being in prison for killing 3 men with a crowbar but in reality works in a garage instead having done nothing of the sort. In the age of HD and FULL COLOUR, sending a bloke out in a black t-shirt screams mediocre. Get the man something with his name on for Christ sake. I guess the small mercy is that he kept his clothes on this time.

Random Shelton Brock references are tenuous. He deserves so much more than to be bitched out to extend a feud which nobody really wanted and will not amount to anything other than appeasing the Saudis.

Despite all that, you know we'll be tuning in next week.

Pretty much came here to say the same thing. Undoubtedly they have the talent who can wrestle really enjoyable matches, but it's also time they gave them the build-up and support that they deserve.

Drew/Ricochet work really well together. A shame it's just to build up for the shitty PPV but I'll take it. Plus any excuse for livewire Flair.

Sometimes that takes time. I have no issue with Black having squash matches for example. I miss those. Get him to kick the fuck out of as many people as possible as far as I'm concerned, especially if there's no other plans for him at the moment.

I really hope they do something with Andrade. He's too good to keep floating in and out all the time. He needs something consistent.

Fair play to Rollins, he did a good job with Humberto Carrillo. Reminded me of a Bret Hart type deal where he'd put on great matches with newer talent. Not that Rollins could ever dream of being that good, but it felt like an old school callback.

I'd say they've done good by Street Profits. Nice to have them get that exposure over however many weeks and then have their proper debut this week. Felt like they slotted right in there and made the most of their opportunity. Fuck knows what was going on with the mystery partner shit though. So unnecessary, but hey that sums up most of WWE week on week.

Between Cain Velasquez and Montez Ford, it was fun seeing the two extremes of the charisma spectrum in the space of a couple of minutes.

By the time he was dancing with that baby at the end, Montez Ford looked like the most exciting prospect in as long as I can remember.

By contrast, Cain's fucked. He just doesn't have it at all. He just looks gormless. His only chance of ever making it is if they have Heyman turn on Brock and become Cain's mouthpiece.

I was always sold on Montez Ford (athleticism, photogenic, charisma unmatched by almost no-one else on the current roster and he’s for sharing, as Angelo Dawkins was ‘amateur wrestler 101’ before he came out of his shell and secured his roster spot as part of Street Profits) but that visual of him bonding with the baby, who reacted with a smile will make him (and the tag team, by extension) more relatable to more fans.

What was the crowd like for the show? I watched the supercut and they sounded dead but I couldn't tell if that was the edit or not. I know they gave Lawler the "What?" treatment before Freddie Mercury told them off.

I think Raw could do with a big heel stable to be all over the shop causing havoc for a few months. I'd quite like to see Rollins use the current heat on him to turn and form a gang of bastards with Andrade and AOP and someone else, maybe McIntyre. Let's have a few months of utter chaos. They've got Owens, Rusev and Rick O'Shea on the face side already. I'd get AJ away from them losers and have him turn after a battering. Maybe Orton too. it would never happen because it's not what they do but I'd love to see them build something like this into a 5v5 for Mania. Wargames or Hell in a cell or something. Anything to turn 4 or 5 of the 700 Mania matches into 1.

This. One of the things I love about SP is their fan interaction. Even at the tiniest Nxt house shows in the dodgiest parts of Florida, they are there dancing through the crowd, hugging babies and redneck grannies and taking time to do selfies.
That and Tez is a star, obviously!

I am quite liking Raw backing the likes of The Street Profits, Black, Andrade etc. You just fear that they will all be trading wins in a couple of months.

I hope they strap a rocket onto Black as he just looks the part to me, everything from his entrance to his matches just feels so authentic. As already mentioned I don't mind watching him squash random jobbers every week for the time being.

Tag Division looks on the up as well, Street Profits ooze so much charisma, the viking warriors are fun in short burst matches, AOP are close to returning, all feels very promising.

Enjoyed Carrillo (not seen him on 205 live) vs Rollins.

And I also enjoyed a Raw without any woman matches, must be the first in a very long time but didn't even notice until the end of the show.

With Brock being traded to SmackDown and Heyman running Raw, it could be a possibility that Heyman switches to Cain.

Cain desperately needs a mouthpiece, Rey is fine for now, but that won’t last for ever.
