Mark Haskins vs Lion Kid

Without doubt two of Europe's premier grapplers are set to face off once again, these two have battled country wide for years and they know each other inside and out. They have teamed many times to see off some of the most feared teams in British Wrestling and have waged war on each other more times than either care to remember. Their off and on again friendship and rivalry has produced some classics, they feuded over the undisputed British Cruiserweight championship, won tag team championships together and are even team mates for the Team UK stable in Dragon Gate UK. Mark Haskins requested this match after the DG:UK tour in February, and while he seems to be intent on going off the rails, will their long term friendship keep Haskins on the right track? Will the spirit of competition shine through or will this be another chapter in the brutal side of their history?

Martin Kirby Vs Noam Dar

This cruiserweight battle sees two of the hottest prospects in British Wrestling collide. Dar is widely tipped for big things in the Wrestling Business and is favoured by alot of his peers. His silky skills on the mat combined with his fiery temper has seen his rise through the ranks and have seen him competed against TNA's AJ Styles and for Japanese powerhouse promotion Dragon Gate on their UK Tour. Kirby may just be the top all-rounder to have never fought abroad, but spending the majority of time travelling the country picking up almost as many titles as he does accolades confirms that he may not have to wait long for a chance to ply his trade worldwide.

These two have been battling it out for positions and status in many promotions around the country and have been itching to face off one on one and on October 24th it finally goes down. Bedford fans are in for a real treat when two of the hottest prospects on UK soil play their brand of human chess.

Looks like a great card. I have wished for a while that the a-merch team would venture north to host some shows.

I love to head south to watch what I can, but trains and hotels limit the amount of visits. Have you ever thought about conducting a min tour Mark? Say like a long weekend, Friday in the North, Saturday in the midlands and then Sunday in your turf?

If not, why?... Financially risky? other promotions taking the hump? Or generally too much to organise?

A show like this, or one of your overseas projects, with the production, venue and crispness would be fucking brilliant up this neck of the woods (north east).

We're always looking to expand and push what we're doing but we have an enemy in time. As people are aware we are juggling so many different projects at once, we don't want the quality of any of it to slip. We're already very disapointed by the delay in the DG:UK dvds but at the same time excited at the strides we have made with these dvds.

A mini tour is possible, but remember we ran Castleford earlier for DG and our partners RPW are running there at the end of November with a stacked show.

In regards to your questions, it is mainly due to time, finacially is never a problem, we have solid relationships with the majority of British groups so that isn't a problem and while it is additional to organise, the main factor that comes into it is time, we're trying not to add any additional workload that cause any of our projects to spread thin.

If you have a specific venue in mind then please let us know, we have added another venue or two to the next tour and then any overseas projects that may or may not be appearing next year and we have our work cut out for us next year for sure.

Full Hove Card

Mark Haskins v Ricochet

What a main event! This is befitting of a huge event, It's safe to say that the Hove Town Hall will not have seen anybody like "The Future of Flight" Ricochet! One of the greatest high flyers on the planet, a world wide traveller, one of the biggest names in Japanese Cruiserweight wrestling right now. His recent matches in Europe have gained rave reviews and October 25th will be no different with his opponent coming in the form of former TNA competitor "The Star Attraction" Mark Haskins, who is easily one of the top unsigned talents worldwide right now. Haskins was a mainstay in Japan for almost the entirety of 2010, which is just before Ricochet really made his mark worldwide. This is a huge match and it will be the speed and aerial ability of USA Born Ricochet against the experience and versatility of Mark Haskins , this could be one of the best matches on UK soil this year.

Marty Scurll v Doug Williams

The list of accomplishment's of both men is exhaustive, Doug Williams is perhaps the biggest ambassador for British Wrestling right now, winning titles worldwide including but not limited to Pro Wrestling Noah Tag Team Champion, TNA X-Division Champion, New Japan IWGP Tag Team Champion, FWA British Heavyweight Champion and countless others. Marty Scurll is the leader of the new wave of British Wrestlers who are creating waves around the scene. Scurll has been featured on ITV's take me out and TNA's British Boot Camp and it has to be said that this limited success has gone to his head, even to the extent of mocking veteran's of the industry at every opportunity with Bret "The Hitman" Hart being the latest in the long time of big name's that Scurll has had a problem with out of nowhere.

If it's big name veterans that Scurll wants to pick a fight with, he will get all he can handle with Doug Williams. A very interesting battle between two of the biggest names in the European Scene right now. Sure to be an incredible battle that no one will want to miss.

Noam Dar v Lion Kid

The technical depression of Noam Dar meets the aerial attach of the Lion Kid, The master of the leg lock against the high flying sensation, Scotland versus England. There can be many ways to sum up this encounter, but it is going to come down to the Sneaky Tenacity of Dar and get the Lion Heart of the Lion Kid. If LK can take to the skies and keep the pace of the match brisk then it should give Scotland's Dar some serious issues, however if, as per usual Noam can ground his opponent this could be a long night for the New Forest Native, or even a very short one. Dar is deadly on the mat and who knows what toll will be taken on the previous nights event. An exciting first time match up which could be scarily good!

Dave Mastiff Open challenge

Big Bad Dave Mastiff has laid out on open challenge to anybody who wants to face him at Hove Town Hall, he doesn't care who, he doesn't care how, it isn't even about how many pain he can cause at Bedford the night before, it is all about showing the South Coast crowd that he is in a bad mood! With many UK talents expressing an interest in facing the West Country Monster it is for certain that Mastiff's challenge will be accepted but who would, in their right mind, want to face off against this beast?

Plus Stixx is attendance.........

Bedford results:

The Corn Exchange is a good venue with a nice set of bleachers. I reckon there were about 150 people there, maybe a little more, which is good for a new promotion. The majority of the crowd were kids. A smattering of Indy regulars, wrestling fans and older people were there as well.

The set up was classic A-Merch: The standard entrance with screen, the lighting rig and a big ring. Much bigger than any Indy show I've seen for the last few months. Ring announcer was Andy Quildan and we had Chris Roberts as our referee.

Match 1: Martin Kirby vs. Noam Dar - Kirby was the face in this one. Noam worked as a heel, with more mannerisms and mocking than I usually see from him. I'd like to see him do that a bit more. Some nice opening fun with Kirby tussling Noam's hair before Noam controlled the match working the leg. Eventually Noam won by nicely countering an Enziguri with a Dragon Screw and applying the knee bar.

Match 2: Mark Haskins vs. Stixx - This was scheduled to be Haskins vs. Lion Kid but Haskins ambushed LK during his entrance, took Kid out with a chair and mocked him. Haskins then laid out an open challenge that was answered by... Stixx!? I haven't seen Stixx as a face and he did a good job. Haskins worked the arm and cheated a bit. He came close with some arm submissions but Stixx eventually hit a spear for the win.

Match 3: British Rounds match: Johnny Kidd vs. Doug Williams - Kidd is local, coming from Luton which is about 20-30 minutes down the road. This was mostly a very traditional British rounds style match. We had really nice counters and holds. We had some funny stuff and some stuff that looks slightly silly these days. There was also some hard shots and a nice storyline of Kidd being a bit annoyed by Williams which added an edge in the latter rounds. Kidd went up a fall with a backslide in the 3rd. Doug equalised with a pinning combination in the 5th and it went to a draw.

This was one of the most different matches that I've seen this year. It was fun, didn't seem too long and actually got a good reception at the end. The myriad of kids in the audience didn't seem too bored but it was also the quietest match (as to be expected with the style on show). Of note was that Noam and Kirby were the cornermen for Kidd & Williams.

Match 4: Marty Scurll vs. Ricochet - Marty heeled it up on the mic and got the most heat of the evening. Lots of boos and jeering, as well as some heckling. Ricochet was the face but the crowd mostly cared more about booing Marty than cheering Ricochet. This was a very fun heel vs. face match: the crowd got more and more energetic and hot as it went on, with the crowd peaking with this match. Ricochet got to show off and Marty kept taking short cuts. There was a nice sequence based around Ricochet avoiding Marty's attempts at low blows. Roberts took a ref bump and marty grabbed a chain. The crowd was MOLTEN for this and it was great when Marty kicked out. The crowd got sent home happy when some heel help by Haskins backfired and Ricochet won with a Shooting Star Press.

No match felt like the guys put on the very, very, very best match they could. They didn't need to. They put on very good, very fun matches that worked with the crowd. This was a great family show and listening to the fans I think it was a success and the next show, announced for February 20th, should do even better. I also liked how it felt like they were setting up for a Kidd-Williams rematch (normal rules) and a Haskins-Lion Kid revenge match.

Good job guys, I would say this achieved the aim of establishing a new family market at the Bedford Corn Exchange and giving people a fun time.

Hove:

Andy Boy Simmonz upset Dave Mastiff with a rollup. Lots of stalling early on. Dave still had two fingers strapped together on his injured hand. The match was alright as an opener, but just a warm up really.

Noam Dar beat Lion Kid by stoppage in less than two minutes. Dar referenced LK being injured in Bedford, and while Kid attempted to have a match, Dar jumped him immediately and the referee did what he had to do.

Stixx then came out and challenged Dar, and won in a competitive bout with a spear. The second half of this was very enjoyable in particular.

Mark Haskins beat Ricochet to kick off the second half. While you would probably get more from these guys elsewhere, this was real good. Haskins got the knees up to block the shooting star press, and got the win with Made in Japan.

Finally, Doug Williams beat Marty Scurll with the bomb scare kneedrop. This was tremendous stuff by the end and sent everyone home happy. Marty's heel character was really at its best here. Like the previous night, a ref bump near the end jacked up the crowd noise to a peak for the show.

Return date is February 19.
