Paid Members Carbomb Posted February 15, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted February 15, 2013 So we have a move name thread. And it's doing well. But that, and a recent discussion concerning how shit Punk's top rope elbow drop is, led me to thinking: who does the best version of what? Â Take the powerbomb, for instance: I think it's fair to say that it's a contentious question as to who does the best one - Sid, Nash, Vader, Batista, Steve Williams, to name a few. Â How about the best top rope elbow? We know Punk's is rubbish, but is Macho Man's the best, or would HBK's be considered better? Â Frogsplash -Art Barr, RVD, Eddy, Chavo (j/k) or even D'Lo's or CIMA's if we're including that type? Would the best diving splash go to Jimmy Snuka or Val Venis? Â Another contentious one: whose spinebuster is the best? AA's, RR's, HHH's, or Batista's? (Way out of left-field, but I think Paul Travell's is the best I've ever seen.) Â Best spear - Goldberg, Rhino, or Edge (snicker)? Â Any other moves you think that certain guys do best in particular? Just to provide some balance, who does the worst? Loki
I still say the Spinebuster Arn Anderson gave Undertaker during the run-in on his match with Flair, one-armed, was the best I've seen. And his spinebusters back in the 80s were awesome. Robert Roode's is great at the moment, though I wish it was his finisher. Â In terms of powerbombs, I think Sid's powerbombs are awesome, with Vader closely behind. Â I think we're all agreed that Steamboat does/did the best armdrag, right? Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted February 15, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted February 15, 2013 I've always thought Batista's powerbomb looked a bit awkward. I loved JBL's version of the powerbomb, when he had his opponent's head between his legs he'd take a puff of an imaginary cigar and stumb it out on their back, then followed that with a nasty looking powerbomb. Â JBL's clothesline was fitting of a wrestling God too. Ultimate Warrior's always looked naff, even as a kid I saw the holes in it.
Wrasslin
I always loved Batista's clotheslines. Mainly because he often looked like he was murdering people with them, Â Powerbomb has to be Vader. Â I am also going to flag up my love for AJ Styles having the best drop kick. Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted February 15, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted February 15, 2013 I think we're all agreed that Steamboat does/did the best armdrag, right? I was actually going to post something similar last night after watching Savage/Steamboat from WMIII. Truly majestic! Â I think London does the most impressive dropkick, with Jerry Lawler's a close second. Dan Severn's German Suplex was the business and I'd put Davey Richards' running clothesline up there with JBLs. Very vicious and believable for a wee lad.
Paid Members ShortOrderCook Posted February 15, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted February 15, 2013 Bret Hart, X-Pac, D'Lo Brown and The Undertaker all know how to hit a leg drop.
Wrasslin
Bret Hart, X-Pac, D'Lo Brown and The Undertaker all know how to hit a leg drop. Â Surely D'Lo takes that one for bobble-heading alone?
Paid Members Carbomb Posted February 15, 2013 Author Paid Members Share Posted February 15, 2013 I still say the Spinebuster Arn Anderson gave Undertaker during the run-in on his match with Flair, one-armed, was the best I've seen. Â I agree - that brief period when he used it as his finisher, it suited him well. I don't mind him using the Crossface, but I really wish he'd drop the Pay-Off as an "implied" finish - it just doesn't work unless a big deal is made of the wrestler's technical skills and is touted as being "inescapable", like the PerfectPlex was. Â What's really odd is that, despite the spinebuster being a pretty spectacular and painful-looking move, nobody since Arn seems to have wanted to use it as a finish. I can't think of anyone who has, except Roode, who seemingly dropped it at the first opportunity. Â EDIT: For a long time, I thought the best lariat/clothesline was Kobashi's, but I was surprised at just how good Desmond Wolfe's was. Also, Jay Bradley's "Boom-Stick" version on Gut-Check recently looked nasty as fuck.
windoesnot
Heres a good one, who had the best knife-edge chop? Flair made it famous, but Benoit's always made me cringe, those were nasty.
Paid Members ShortOrderCook Posted February 15, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted February 15, 2013 Didn't Farooq adopt his spinebuster as a finish rather than the Dominator when in the Acolytes? His looked brutal. I thought he used it as a finish in WCW too?
The Cum Doctor
Roderick Strong has it for me in the chop stakes. Those are nasty, nasty shots. Â PAC has the Shooting Star Press down to an art form. The way he hits the move is just incredible. I wish he'd just use that and not the corkscrew one as a finisher. His looked brutal. I thought he used it as a finish in WCW too? Â Oh yeah! Good call. Didn't like his later version of it, though - picking them up in a bearhug and then dropping them just looked a bit shite. Devon does something similar now, too. I understand why Faarooq did it that way - his body must be pretty bashed up - but I thought his version in Doom, where he dropped with the opponent, looked much better. Â Â Â Â Chops - I tell you what, Bully Ray's look really, really nasty. His match recently with Jesse had the crowd calling for more - Jesse's chest was so red, I'm surprised he wasn't bleeding after all that.

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 15, 2013 Moderators Share Posted February 15, 2013 I know it got a bit overkill but I loved it how everyone was super nuts for chops during the heydey of the RoH indie scene. Â Loki did nice ones. And although a different move, I loved the fact that he did Mongolian chops. No one else did that shit.
