From Meltzer:

--Dixie Carter will be making a major announcement on Impact tomorrow night. The announcement is expected to be plans to do more television taping on the road. I don't know if they're giving up the Impact Zone completely, or just cutting way back on it but the idea is to do something along the lines of how Raw was done before it went weekly, where they tape every two weeks, the first show airs live and the next week is taped.

That's great to hear. I am wanking as I type at the idea of Impact going on the road. In other news:

--Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment announced the launch of "The Hoff," a series of games featuring David Hasselhoff, to be released on 2/14 in the U.K. It's aimed at the on-line casino market in Europe.

Bischoff now has Hogan and Hasselhoff. Imagine if this was 1989.

Gearing up for a more sustainable challenge to Raw, maybe? Imagine Vince reading out the Impact results on Raw - obviously with internet spoilers it's not nearly the same, but just for laughs, eh. I don't watch TNA, I'm not dead set against it or anything, just that 6 hours of wrestling a week is enough for me at the moment. Is there any will within TNA to try and go head to head with WWE again, is that the long term goal or are they happy with their thursday slot?

If it is to do with the tapings I find it quite an odd thing to advertise as an announcement on TV. It's a business decision really, and I can't see how announcing it on TV does anything other than highlighting to your audience that they've been following a promotion for years that can only just afford to leave the TV studio. It's great news obviously, but not something that needs a TV announcement from Dixie Carter.

Just yesterday I was saying on another thread on how the company needs to embrace kids into the product and tap into the next generation of wrestling fans and then this comes along.

It's great we'll finally get TNA on the road, I'm guessing that initially it'll be 2 taping's per show (LIVE and taped) and if they have good results then they'll do it LIVE every week, hopefully they book sensible arenas (3-4k max) and get as many people into them as possible but if the house show results are anything to go by then they could have big problems but they've obviously thought this through and come to a decision that they need to make this step.

Going back onto my original point, the shows will end at 11:30pm, parents won't take their kids to shows because of this late end time. Surely it would be better to encourage them to come to shows ending at 10pm and have every other show LIVE in Orlando?

Well they need to advertise the areas they will be visiting, to mention it on TV would be a good idea as a start. Logically they should play to their strengths and dress it up as while the Impact Zone is their home and they love the building for all the amazing moments that have happened there, they can't resist the increasing demand to allow more people to enjoy the TNA live experience. They obviously won't come out and say "despite being around ten years, we can only just afford to do the thing everyone has been telling us to do for years."

I hope they prepare a better line of merchandise to sell at live shows to go with this

Why? WWE already do this very well, TNA should market themselves to a different market and capitalize on doing things WWE can't. Aiming towards an older generation makes more sense for TNA.

TNA don't have a Cena, they have guys like Sting, Hogan, Hardy, Aries, Bully Ray, Styles, Angle and Roode. TNA's main eventers are made up almost entirely of people who would appeal to an older generation

I can't see the impact zone inhabitants receiving the news well, where else can they go dressed as Sting on a Thursday night in their local area?

I'm really pleased to hear the news, I have been waiting for it since January 2010 when Hogan came in, it's good to see it come to fruition finally. The impact zone can absolutely kill some shows and when TNA isn't delivering something to your taste at the time, the silent crowd confirms that it is being switched off. When something great has been going on, admittedly I look past the impact zone crowd but would obviously prefer that the show was in front of a rowdy crowd of wrestling fans. I really hope this works out for them and that they take Bully's advice on hitting the more traditional wrestling cities.

I think they have a couple of guys who could be marketed well to kids, Hardy seems to be a popular choice with a lot of young fans during his WWE days and could be again. Sting & Styles are guys any age can get behind.

Just feel that TNA is missing the boat with a lot of the younger fans, they've had their problems over the last 10 years and majority of fans are ones that will always remember the mistakes, so why not start on the next generation. Get them to the shows, and they'll see that what you get with TNA you won't get anywhere else in terms of access to talent and show enjoyment.

I agree. I don't want yet another promotion aimed at kids - WWE's great, but having to wade through childish shit to get to the goodness can get tiresome. I want a product that's aimed at me, quite frankly. Sounds smarky, but this is the market - WWE don't provide exactly what I'd like, so I tune in to TNA because it has that feel. If they started aiming at kids (ooer), I'd stop watching because I could just go back to watching WWE, who do all that better, or I'd go off and download puro, go to BritWres shows or maybe even start watching lucha.

I'm not saying embrace them to the fact that Fruity Pebbles is getting a mention week in week out along with a dancing midget. I'm talking about having a young show based around kids with the idea of getting them to house shows, buying merchandise and enjoying the product so they grow up with that product & stay loyal to it.

Impact should stay how it is, but as a extra way of generation money to help that show then maybe it's something they should look at.

I see what you mean.

To be honest, I do think they should cut out the swearing a bit. They'd do better if they were like wCw in the mid-90s. Nothing wrong with going PG13, as long as you don't make your product "U" to be on the safe side of it.
