Fog Dude
Despite the lateness in starting this thread, everyone spotted it in time to make their picks, so maybe I shouldn't worry so much about getting a new one up first thing on Wednesday in future. The results were in the original post on Sunday night as per usual, and the table was updated in the early hours of this morning. Perhaps I should've waited to do TildeGuy's D2D as this week's unorthodox match broke all recent trends. First, he was the first person form a good few rounds to get it wrong. Secondly, not many other participants - 7 from a possible 22 - disagreed with him (and one of those, Rory, thought the game would go to penalties). And thirdly, he didn't have a complete disaster, managing to get into double figures with his picks for the other 9 matches. He was joined on 10 points by stunstone, who has suddenly rediscovered last season's form after last week's boost and extends his lead due to TUFCfan having a 'mare. The other former champion was overtaken by ultimo, who alongside Prince Nana is this round's joint top scorer. As both have pointed out, they were helped by taking a maximum 5 points from that event in the Far East. Yet another ex-champ in cheetah tied his score of 3 along with two further players, one of whom allowed Lawz to close the gap at the bottom to 8 points, but that embarrassment was surpassed by niff and Seph, who share lowest scorer dishonour this time out. The latter has at least already had the good grace to acknowledge this disaster. In the more standard fixtures, Villa's triumph at Anfield was virtually a dud, while draws at the Britannia and The Hawthorns proved somewhat more foreseeable outcomes. Narrow home victories for Norwich and QPR were most fruitful for exact scores, but in the Championship a lot of people got the results the wrong way round, thinking Brighton might sneak past Forest and Millwall-Leicester would end in a stalemate. Further afield, single-goal wins for PSG and Marseille were generally good for at least one-pointers. Finally, well done to The Ratt since I mentioned everyone else who got high or terrible scores this week, and I think his haul of a dozen is noteworthy. I'll try and get the next set of 10 up within the next 12 hours, including an explanation of how the next 3 rounds over Christmas and the New Year are going to work. Be sure to keep an eye out for it!
Prince Nana
The intresting point for me was last week I was joint bottom scorer. To clarify, in cup games with extra time and penalties what counts? The score after 90 minutes? I know this was explained in week 1 but I missed predicting them so it didn't sink in. Fog Dude
Secondly, not many other participants - 7 from a possible 22 - disagreed with him (and one of those, Rory, thought the game would go to penalties). Sorry, I normally remind everyone of the rules before any round that contains a match that has to be decided on the day. The emboldened bit should've made it clear though: I interpret the prediction of a draw to mean the person making the pick thinks the score they put down will be the result after extra time. All penalties are ignored. Keep this in mind because it'll be important for the French Cup (which has no replays) round of 64 in Week 22, and for the Capital One Cup final in February. Hope that clears things up for now.
