Does anyone else think the Lapsed Fan podcast is massively hit and miss?

There will be parts of certain episodes, like the Colonel Adnan and Steve Austin impressions, that will have my sides splitting with laughter, and other parts where I just skip 30 minutes ahead because of their whining about how the current product is inferior is so grating.

With 3/4/5 hours of content I guess this is bound to be the case, but fucking hell lads, pack in the moaning and keep on with the funny stuff.

I usually nod in agreement with the 'current wrestling is shite' stuff, but appreciate not everyone's as jaded as me. They obviously watch the WWE these days though, which I don't really. Just stop watching if you're not enjoying it.

The Vince impressions are the best bits of the show, and there are episodes like Summerslam 92 and Over the Edge 1999 which have been gripping despite how long they are. But they had some good material to work with there, going on tangents (nothing new there), and reading excerpts from Diana and Martha Hart's books.

They've started shilling more and more for donations recently though, I find that a bit off putting tbh.

I've only just discovered the Something to Wrestle podcast this week. While I'm sure Prichard talks some rubbish, it's fantastic (hardly news). The 1st TNA episode has some wonderful penny pinching stories on it, particularly the Sting HOF story.

Any other ones worth checking straight away? So many hours to listen too.

I gave Pritchard and Eugene from Walking Dead a listen this morning and then spent most of the day with them on in the background talking Mr Perfect and Ted Dibiase. Really good stuff.

This will be getting added into the weekly routine for sure.

Brilliant story on Prichard show this week covering Ted Dibiase in WWE. On about trying to wrap his head around the gimmick and when it finally clicked.....he was on a plane with Vince and the guy behind them lit a cigarette, Vince offered him 100 dollars to put it out as he notoriously hates smoking, the chap said "no thanks I paid for a seat in the smoking section, I want my cigarette". Vince replies "200 Bucks PAL", and was still met with a "No, I want my cigarette I paid for this seat", Vince then said "500 Bucks AND I will pay for your seat", the bloke put his fag out and Vince started handing him 100 dollar bills!!!! Prichard said that is the moment he realised what the Dibiase character would be......Everybody has a price.

He comes up with a couple of these every show that literally nobody else but Vince and maybe a select few people would know, just fantastic.

I highly recommend the Vader in WWF and Brian Pillman ones. The Vader one is great, especially when Conrad gets into how Vader was buried on TV and just starts pissing himself at the absurdity of some of it. And the Pillman one is fascinating, although sad as it mostly covers the final year of his life.

I listened to the Mr Perfect one the other day as well and it's probably my favourite one yet. Really enjoyed Bruce going through all the original Perfect vignettes with Hennig playing basketball, chess, throwing horse shoes etc. Some really cool little stories in there. He's not always the most likeable guy but I felt for Bruce when he got choked up talking about when he found out Perfect died. You could tell it was genuine and not just done for effect. It doesn't dwell too much on his death though, which is good, and mostly focuses on the Perfect gimmick, his matches, his rep as a ribber etc. Really worth your time.

I've grown to love Something To Wrestle With. It's easily my favourite wrestling podcast now. And the best thing is there's so many subjects they can cover that will be interesting/entertaining. They could go until the end of time just on characters from the 80s cartoon era alone, for fuck's sake.

I've only listened to the episode of Something to Wrestle with about Dusty Rhodes. I use Podbean to listen to stuff, and I enjoyed that episode when it came out and checked back after it for new ones and it must have taken ages to update as there didn't seem to be any new ones up for a while. But I checked back on the channel a couple of weeks ago and the whole list is up so I think I'm going to try out a few more of them. I've downloaded the Lex Luger and Steroid Trial episodes to start in again.

Downloaded sone of the Pritchard one ages ago and never listened.

I've started on the TNA one today (episode 12) and after a bumpy start, it's really decent. It's all over the place topic wise and Pritchard gets defensive over nothing all the time but it's still a good listen.

Cheers for the recommendation chaps.

Yeah I really enjoyed that too, the only Pritchard one I've listened to.  He was really prickly at times but gave out a good few nuggets of info and insight which made it worth putting the time in to listen to.

I'm just glad to see its someone other than Ted fucking Fowler.

Based off of what been said about it on here, I'm given Something To Wrestle With a go. Only listen to Lex Espress and The Ultimate Warrior episodes so far, and whilst it hasn't really uncovered anything that I didn't already know, I still found them to be enjoyable listens

Enjoyed the  Dave Meltzer and Steve Austin podcast and their take on the 6 star match.

The Bruce Pritchard podcasts have also been thoroughly enjoyable esp the Jerry Jarrett impersonations, TNA/Dixie being highly incompetent, The Vince Goddam pal impersonations as well as all the rumours and innuendos. Great stuff.

Fuck me, Meltzer is so unbelievably awkward in that podcast. I dunno if I've just never noticed it before, but the amount of cutting Austin off mid sentence or just flat out talking over the top of him as he was in flow was almost cringeworthy.

You could tell Austin was getting a little chewed off with it at points too. Reminded me of one his previous ones where Sean Waltman was doing the same thing.

Murder on the ears.

Is this the "Chicken.. erm, Rice, ya know?" thing?

If so, it's the only one I really dislike. Goes on for an age.

Edit- Sorry for Double post. I though I was editing the original.
