King Pitcos
If you warn the abusive sections of those supporters that they might ruin it for everyone else and risk a massive fine for the club, many wont care and will still do it. It's a bit like threatening a trouble maker in a high-school class that if he carries on he'll land everyone in a whole class detention. They persist because they think it's hilarious that everyone will have to stay behind because of them, and everyone is punished as a result. It isn't that much like it, unless the troublemakers hate football, hate the club and are only going to football matches because the law forces them to. In theory, they are meant to actually like and care about the club they go to watch, and thus not want to fuck the club over.
fye
I'm with Jason Roberts. I'm glad most right-minded people, once they learn what Kick It Out actually is, are on his side too. Â What is it? I remember seeing some presentations about it about 15 years ago but know nothing specific about it

Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted October 20, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted October 20, 2012 I agree with Roberts purely because the 'kick racism out of football' movement clearly means fuck all. They have no power, so whats the point? Â Im a dirty red scouse fan and I hate the fact that our only striker is a dirty, diving racist cunt. I hate the fact that the Terry situation was dragged out for ages and he managed to get away with a slap on the wrist, which in context, is all it was. Â I'm not usually a fan of the 'making an example' out of somebody scenario. It needs to be the same rule for all. The lad on the first page who stated that fans get life bans, but footballers have their pocket money taken off them for a day, is bang on. Â It needs to start soon (really hammering down on players), I struggle to believe that it will though.

I then changed it so I came across as less of a prick to encourage him to explain his point. When I said I saw some presentations 15 years ago its cos I was there for the launch of it at Middlesbrough's ground with a selection of north east based players. I was mainly wanting Mikey to elaborate on his vague point as it always seemed like a positive thing from the little I have seen.
Paid Members Kaz Hayashi Posted October 20, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted October 20, 2012 I think its shite that a blak player is to be 'disciplined' by his club because he chooses not to wear a shirt for a cause he no longer believes in. Â I have no idea what Man Utd have planned for Rio, but for fuck sake... really??

fye
I think Rio is allowed to make his own mind up but Fergie will be seething because he criticised Jason Roberts so much for saying he wouldnt wear one yesterday. Fergie will be caring far more about being embarrassed than he will about the campaign.
The Natural
Disciplined for not agreeing with Fergie it looks like.  Sounds it. An article with quotes from Sir. Alex Ferguson, who did and didn't wear the Kick It Out shirts:  Sir Alex Ferguson has said Rio Ferdinand "will be dealt with" after not wearing a Kick It Out T-shirt in a protest against the campaign group. Manchester United's Ferdinand and Reading's Jason Roberts both made the gesture to demonstrate against a perceived lack of action about racism.  "At the press conference I spoke about it, it is disappointing," said Ferguson. "It is embarrassing for me."  The United manager also told MUTV Ferdinand's actions "let us down".  On Friday Ferguson said: "All the players are wearing it [the Kick It Out T-shirts]. I have only heard that Jason Roberts is different.  "I don't know what point he [Roberts] is trying to make."  In contrast, Roberts' decision not to wear a Kick it Out T-shirt before the 1-0 defeat at Liverpool was backed by Reading boss Brian McDermott.  "I support him 100%," McDermott said. "He had his reasons. Jason had his view and it was a very strong view. We spoke on Friday and I totally respect his view."  A Kick It Out period of anti-racism action started on Thursday and ends on 29 October.  Premier League players traditionally wear T-shirts during this time as a show of support for the campaign group and its message, although on this occasion the action is spread across two weekends and some clubs have chosen to wear the tops next week.  Ferdinand and Roberts' protests came about following disquiet over the punishments handed out to Luis Suarez and John Terry after they were found guilty by the Football Association - a body that partly funds Kick It Out - of using racist language.  In September Chelsea captain Terry was banned for four matches and fined
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted October 20, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted October 20, 2012 I remember at our school, there was a poster of Peter Reid with the "Kick Racism Out ..." shirt on. That was around the period where the rumour was that Reid was sprinting with Milton Nunez in training and Nunez was so shit, a 40-odd year old Reid was catching up with him and Reid was supposedly shouting "you better not let me catch you, you black bastard". Â Did the "Reidy The Racist" rumours leak out further than the North East, or was it just up our end?

mikey
My first post before I edited it was quite a smart arsed cos I felt Mikey criticised it without saying why. Â As others have said, it's a campaign that's funded by the FA, the Premier League and the Football League. However, it's all well and good preaching a message but it needs to be followed up with enforcement. When was the last time a football club got fined for offensive chanting? My team West Ham has a horrendous record for anti-semitic chanting. I would guarantee a few other fans of London clubs could tell me that they were in the crowd against Spurs and heard the "jovial" and "amusing" chants about foreskins spill over into something that is not only racist but, often at times, reprehensible. Ever seen Graham Le Saux or Matt Taylor or whomever is rumoured to be gay that season being called a poof from the stands? What about when Robbie Fowler told Le Saux he took it up the arse on the pitch? This isn't being dealt with in any way, shape or form. Â The Sun yesterday covered its back page with criticism for Chelsea for not stripping John Terry of its captaincy, eventhough the club has repeatedly stated a zero tolerance policy for racism. I firmly believe that Terry didn't appeal this because he knew he wasn't going to get a fair hearing irrespective and because the burden of proof is much lower for a disciplinary hearing than it is for a criminal charge. On balance of probabilities, the committee decided he more than likely racially abused Anton Ferdinand. However, if this is the case, they should say so and why they stand by their captain. If this isn't the case, where's the condemnation and punishment that fits the crime of breaking a zero tolerance policy against racism. Â My boss always maintains that John Terry has done this before. Unfortunately, I don't have his encyclopedic knowledge of these cases but reckoned a good rule of thumb was whether Drogba interjected. If Drogba walked away, Terry had clearly made it racial or nationalistic.

fye
Surely the Kick It Out campaign is there to breed awareness, they wil never be given power to police. Being funded by something and being ran by something are two different things arent they? Maybe I am over simplifying things, they may not be great at anything but surely they're not the bad guys.
