Big Daddy vs Giant Haystacks

saw this two man stage play on Friday night in the lounge at the Leicester Square Theatre (basically a pretty small basement room and on the night there was just an audienceof 12) and was blown away at how good it was.

Based around the history of British wrestling from the 50's to 1988, when it was taken off ITV, this comedy drama charts the high and lows of the sport through the lives of the two main characters as well as various other wrestlers and promoters (Brian Dixon, Max Crabtree, Jackie Pallo and even Eric Bishoff all turn up) and even some celebrities too such as Paul McCartney and Frank Sinatra. I was a bit apprehensive that this was going to be a piss-take but was handled very well, and anyone who's read Simon Garfield's excellent book 'The Wrestling' will recognise most of the source material, switching between some very funny comedy and drama with some real parts of sympathy for Daddy and Haystacks. The other good thing was that you don't even really have to be a fan or know anything of the history as it's all neatly tied p in the show. If anyone sees this advertised I would highly recommend checking it out. Just wondered if anyone else on her had seen it and what they thought of it?
