Gotta say about Te Huna, love his fights but don't think he's that sound personality wise, he stomped the shit out of Anthony Perosh AFTER beating him in a pre-UFC fight.

Not having access to FX is a gigantic pain in the ass, but I finally managed to get hold of episode 4 online. Fingers crossed I can pay my bill on Friday and get back on track.

Nice to see both sides really loosen up and get into some antics, the beginnings of some of that reality TV craziness that made the first couple of seasons so loved. Also liking the coaches rivalry heating up, I thought both guys would be respectful the whole way through, but in all honesty George has been a bit of a smartass prick. He was right about Norman's shades though.

The fight was intense, both guys constantly working, but there was a huge size deficit in play. Vas actually seemed to have a more well rounded skill set, but Norman was able to muscle him to the mat with ease. Would like to see Vas get a shot on the FX 6 prelim card at featherweight.

Hoping I can get hold on ep 5 sooner and resist the urge to look at spoilers.

And i think i mentioned it before, but i recenently rewatched the TUF season that featured George and it surprised me that since the show and until now so many people warmed to Sotiropulous as a person, he came off as a bit of a prize dick on that show as well, not so much for the sake of it but he's all business and doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor. Until i rewatched i myself had him down as a this happy Australian guy but it aint the case. I'm still a fan as far as his fighting ability goes though.

Yeah wasn't he being a big tart about something to do with Ben Saunders? I think Saunders wanted him to call him if he woke up first or something and George was being a right grumpy shit about .

Ray Sefo was fucking quality as well...

He did turn the light on.

Don't know the reason behind it, but this is from his Wiki:

He became the Cage Fighting Championship Light Heavyweight World Champion at CFC 10 by defeating fellow current UFC fighter Anthony Perosh by first round KO. Te Huna was later sanctioned by the promotion for illegally stomping on Perosh after the referee had stopped the bout. Cage Fighting Championship promoter Luke Pezzutti issued the following statement concerning Te Huna's behaviour, "To Anthony Perosh and the supporters/ Fans of Cage Fighting Championship, we apologize and do not condone nor tolerate the un-sportsman like actions of James Te-Huna at the CFC 10 August 21 event where the referee Ivan Walton stepped in to stop the fight between James and Anthony, and as a result of his actions that evening he has been fined 20% of his fight purse and has offered to write a letter of apology to Anthony Perosh, CFC officials and the supporters of CFC. CFC officials will amend rules, regulations to further prevent this type of behavior from our athletes." A formal letter of apology was duly issued on Te Huna's behalf.

Cheers for that. Found the video;

That's inexcusable. That incident somehow totally passed me by. I always quite liked Te Huna and thought he was just a fun fighter to watch. Plus he looks a bit like a third Nog brother so he was automatically a good bloke in my book. Then I read about him donating his fight purse to the vicitms of the New Zealand earthquake a few years back and he was solidified as one of the good guys in MMA.

This seems really out of character though and it was a one off from what I can gather. Stomping or hitting an opponent after the stoppage is cuntish behaviour for sure but there must have been something more going on there. Odd because Perosh seems like a laid back guy as well. I'm sure they're both nice enough and this was an isolated incident but it is inexcusable.

Made you look. That's the Aussie ring girl from TUF.

Just watched episode 5.

Shame Bola lost, I really thought he'd make it far. He was doing good early on but credit to Manny for toughing it out and getting the finish. North-south's are rare in MMA so it was good to see that move dusted off. He was a little bit fortunate with how Bola landed off the slam because he landed right in north-south position perfectly. But you can't discredit that finish. He took the chance the split second it was there. The slam was scary as well, couple of inches difference and that could have been nasty.

I said before that I liked Rob Whittaker of all the Aussies. Well, I take that back. Ever since I said that he hasn't stopped whinging. I've switched my Aussie love to Manny Rodriguez now. Seems like a genuinely nice chap. I'd kept an eye on him the last few episodes and he seemed like one of the more likeable guys on Team Aus. Seeing more of him this week confirmed that.

Obviously being British I wanted to see Team UK do well, also finding the Aussies a bit dull. But...

I think the main reason why I haven't taken to a lot of Team Aus so far and the thing that rubs me the wrong way with some of them is they take the whole country thing way too fucking seriously.

Sure, everyone's wanting to represent their country well it's only natural. I've got no problem with some bragging and flag waving and stuff. But while the UK team seem to see the country vs country aspect as a bit of fun, the Aussies (well most of them) seem genuinely dickish about it. And I'm talking the coaching staff as well. The Brits seem happy to take it as a competition and seem alright with mixing with the Aussies a bit at the house. The Aussies just sit in their room all grumpy moaning about "the poms".

We're now a few weeks in and there's a clear divide at the house. Again, nothing new. There's always separation between the teams at the house. But it seemed like the Aussies came in with a right chip on their shoulder and a few of the team seemed determined to be twats about it from the off.

Back on this week's episode anyway...so yeah, that's what I like about Manny. He's one of the only ones on the Aussie team who seems to see past the country thing. Wasn't a knob at the weigh in, hasn't been a knob to anyone from either team at the house and no-one from either side seems to have a bad word to say about him. Got on with his business and it paid off in the cage.

Couple of other quick points.

*I thought Ross Pearson's speech after Bola lost was a bit off. I suppose there wasn't much else he could really say right there but you can't just keep saying "You got caught" and "We're doing everything right". Shit happens in MMA but the "got caught" thing is bollocks really. You get in there knowing the risks. And being in denial about "doing everything right" isn't good. It's 3-2 to Team Aus now so not a disaster. It's been nip and tuck all the way but the difference is the Aussies wins were all finishes whereas our 2 were decisions. If you're doing everything right you don't just get caught 3 times.

*Glad Luke stayed. Guys who walk out of TUF never come back. It's tough being away from his family and I get why he wanted to go if he can't even train fully. But basically all he's got to do is live in a nice house in Australia, watch some fights, soak in as much advice as he can from the coaches and wait. And he'll get his shot on the finale. He'd be mad to leave now so I'm glad he decided against it. I'm hoping Pastou gets another crack as well.

*Freakshow's swimsuit was sexy.

Next week's show looks good. Wonder which Aussie has to go? And Freakshow's at it again.

Pearson's done well there. I'm a big fan but he's not a looker is he? Fair play.

Speaking of punching above your weight, Freakshows missus is nice...

I don't know what I expected but I was surprised how, well normal his family seem. Wonder if he wears this around his house...

I bet he does as well. Cutting the grass, picking the kids up from school, the lot.

It's worth remembering that these shows are edited beyond belief. I'm sure the Aussies aren't the craziest bunch you'll ever meet, but I don't think they're just sitting around grumping all the time.

There is an issue with how us British act. It's a reputation that is well known in pretty much every country we holiday in. Young British males are a fucking nightmare is what they say, and they're right.

If I was in the house I certainly wouldn't be fucking about, I'd be looking to stay in shape, stay injury-free and make sure I can take advantage of the opportunity given to me. Running around naked, throwing food around and suchlike would be pretty low on my list of priorities.

yeh the footage is edited to fit the story they've created for the season, im pretty sure any Aussie fun is being edited out for TV...that said, they do seem a boring bunch.

I hear what your saying Dave about looking to stay in shape, but i think being locked up in a house with no tv, radio, internet anything is gonna drag people to do certain things they usually wouldn't, it's all well and good saying how you think you'd act but until your in that situation you can't really comment on it. Boredom does funny things to people.

As for the Luke thing, i don't really see why he couldnt have packed up and gone, im pretty sure the homesickness had something to do with it but they kept saying 'dont waste this oppurtunity', but it aint like he had an oppurtunity anymore, he couldn't even train, to be asked to sit on the side for 4 weeks must have been very demoralising...its nice to say he gets to watch the fights and live in a nice house but that's gotta get old when you can't partake in any of the training, he must have been bored out of his fucking mind...add in the fact that he's gotta go see a fucking brain specialist! the show did a poor job of showing any compassion for the fact that the guy might have a serious health problem, let him get it sorted! I'd like have to have heard what Dana would say on the matter.

Yeah that will be the opportunity they were on about. Even though he got KO'd he still fought hard and I'm sure he'd get a spot on the finale which could lead to a UFC career.

And what's 4 weeks anyway? If he gets in the UFC he'd be expected to fight anywhere from the UK, Vegas, Brazil, Japan, China, Abu Dhabi etc. He'll probably end up being away a fair chunk of time 2 or 3 times a year for training camps. That comes with being a top level fighter and if he wants to make it in the UFC he'll have to get used to it.

The brain specialist thing, they were going to send him to one there but he wanted to go home and go to one in the UK, its not like it was a case of a lack of care for his health. He was gonna see a specialist either way.

On the editing, fair point David. although that works both ways as well. I'm sure the Brits aren't going nuts 24/7 either. And to be fair when it's time to train they knuckle down and train hard. You can be focused but still have fun in your downtime.
