Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 7, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2012 I was chucking out my vhs collection recently and saved some of the inlays because the artwork was great. I particularly enjoy the airbrush style art that was popular in the 80s. Check this bad boy out: Â Â The film sucks, btw. Â Â Â Share some of your favorite video covers! Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 7, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2012 Yeah, POW was from 86 and definitely isn't a forgotten gem as it was forgotten for good reason so I definitely couldn't get away with it in the other thread! Paid Members Green Posted August 7, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 7, 2012 Â I remember this monstrosity staring at me in the local video shop. It's probably god-awful but as someone who's terrified of the dentist I was always grossed out.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 7, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) The original The Dentist was fucking terrible, but number two had a great tagline on the poster - "the dentist 2: you know the drill" Â I love the showdown in little Tokyo artwork in your sig, btw.. Great example of the style I'm talking about in this thread. Â Edit: big trouble in little China, I meant. Always get the two mixed up. Paid Members DEF Posted August 7, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted August 7, 2012 Its Big Trouble in Little China artwork Chest not Showdown. Â Its depressing how bad low budget DVD artwork is most of the time these days. Its all crap cut and paste screen grabs and stuff now. VHS sold rotten films soley on the badass covers. I spent hours in the video shop as a kid just starring at the awesome horror/action/comedy cases I would never be allowed to rent.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 7, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2012 A little research done just now tells me that it appears I'm a big fan of Drew Struzan even though I had never heard of him, and that there is a documentary about him. Chokeout talked about it in the documentary thread recently, but I kinda glossed over because I didn't know who he was  gonna have to check that out.
