Dr.PeterVenkman Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I'm watching Bret/Perfect from Summerslam 91, Perfect just does everything he can to put Bret over, singlet torn, uses loads of cheap shots to get the advantage, gives up straight away and Bret robs his singlet afterwards  Any other good examples of great put over jobs (I'm sure there's a better term) ?
Paid Members Maverick Posted August 3, 2012 Paid Members Posted August 3, 2012 Hogan and Rock both gave Lesnar huge rubs at Summerslam and on Smackdown, both really sold for him and made him look a total beast. The picture of Hogan after his match with Brock really made Brock seem a monster.
ChapManiA Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 When Billy Gunn dropped the I.C title to Chris Benoit.
Paid Members CuckedByMenry Posted August 3, 2012 Paid Members Posted August 3, 2012 If losing the WWE title to Diesel in eight seconds after one boot and a Jacknife wasn't enough, Bob Backlund then crawled all the way from the ring to the dressing room area. It's also commendable due to the fact that it was on a house show. He sold injuries off-camera to an audience of thousands better than most wrestlers would when there's a TV audience of millions. He could've easily half-arsed a sore back and walked away, but he didn't.
NEWM Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 The Great Khali was obviously awesome from the moment he walked down the ailse, but Taker playing stone fucking dead for him and doing the honours to a big boot at the PPV certainly helped too. Proof if ever needed that that character is completely bulletproof.
vince russo Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 HHH done a great job of Elevating Batista to Main Event Level, am i right in thining its the only guy hes faced that hes never beat? lost 3 straight PPVs to the Animal
Shane O' Mac Version 2 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Lesnar putting over Eddie and Triple H putting over Benoit. The actual title runs weren't that great, but in the wins they were both put over like megastars.

HWM Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Off the top of my head - Foley putting Hunter over at the Rumble and No Way Out in 2000. Though I seem to recall that HHH pretty much forgot about this a few years later once he'd cemented his spot.

Paid Members SpiritOfTheForest Posted August 3, 2012 Paid Members Posted August 3, 2012 On a similar note, Foley putting over Randy Orton at Backlash 2004 and to a lesser extent, putting over Edge at Wrestlemania. Both matches made the respective guys look like megastars.
Paid Members JohnnyChimpo Posted August 4, 2012 Paid Members Posted August 4, 2012 Off the top of my head - Foley putting Hunter over at the Rumble and No Way Out in 2000. Though I seem to recall that HHH pretty much forgot about this a few years later once he'd cemented his spot. Elaborate please? Â I thought Triple H putting over John Cena at Mania 22 is a really underrated, misunderstood job. Everyone whinges (or at least did at the time), that Triple H said in a promo building up to Mania that Cena couldnt wrestle, and therefore buried him. Which is bollocks. But anyway, hadnt been accepted as a true main event player up until that point. He had won the belt a year earlier from JBL, feuded with him for a couple of months after, then moved to Raw and feuded with midcarders like Jericho and Christian, then had a good/great series of matches with Kurt Angle (who while awesome at the time, was another one of those wrestlers who would be constantly moving up and down the card; opening PPV match one month, main event a month later, midcard feud next month etc). He had never really been put over a real, true bona-fide main eventer. Even though they traded brands, Batista was probably more in the year between Mania 21 and 22. Then came the Triple H feud, and people were doing the whole "Mania 22 Spoiler: Triple H wins - lol" stuff; despite the fact he had lost the title in the last two Mania main events. They made out that Triple H had every advantage that Cena didnt. That Triple H was from money, could afford all the best trainers, sports science, training regimes and so on, while Cena was a kid from the streets, a kid with a dream; who came from humble backgrounds but never knew how to quit. Triple H laughs in Cena's face about the prospect of facing him, goes so far as to say he cant wrestle, and is not in the same league. He then goes on to tap out, to a wrestling hold, from the guy who cant wrestle, in the middle of the ring, at the biggest PPV of the year. Excellent "Rocky" style, underdog story. Â The whole year between Mania 21 and 22, when the fan backlash against Cena started, there was always the chance that the company may plug the plug on him, that they might embrace the hate and turn him heel, or whatever, but beating Triple H - the first genuine main event guy he had faced - in the middle of the ring like that, made it clear that Cena was here to stay. Â Randy Orton did a great job putting over Mark Henry there just under a year ago (which seems like forever ago at this stage).
Moderators PowerButchi Posted August 4, 2012 Moderators Posted August 4, 2012 It's surely Ric Flair doing for Sting? Over and over again as well. Even when he didn't job for him, he put him over so strong it beggars belief. First clash is case in point. Sting is a star because of Ric Flair. Â Randy Savage put DDP over like a motherfucker as well. Â Putting over isn't necessarily doing the job though, and that needs to be recognised. Â EDIT: While being the most overrated wrestler of the past 30 years, Raven made Goldberg look a million bucks as well.
Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted August 4, 2012 Paid Members Posted August 4, 2012 Sting putting Big Van Vader over at the Great American Bash in 1992 for the WCW title? Â Sting took an absolute pounding in that match and was taking big bumps for the Vader-man. Vader won it clean too, with a big f*ck-off power bomb. Sting got about 3 seconds of offense in the match.
Paid Members quote the raven Posted August 4, 2012 Paid Members Posted August 4, 2012 Id have to say Savage putting over DDP. Â Â Â DDP wasnt even in the same game as Randy at the time and Savage made him a top player over night
