Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted July 20, 2012 Paid Members Posted July 20, 2012 Wasn’t as good as it usually is. Not many good matches on the show, but a few things came along nicely, so it wasn’t a bad show. Seemed like a show based purely to get over the biker blokes. They were all over this show. -Show opened with an update on the condition of Hulk Hogan. He suffered a fractured pelvis during the attack of the Aces and Eights last week. They showed pictures of Hogan in the hospital and the scar from his surgery. But forget all that tonight is OPEN FIGHT NIGHT! -James Storm is first up in the Open Fight Night. He said Bobby Roode’s time is coming. He then called the Aces and Eights “a bunch of damn cowards”. Then for his Open Fight Night said he wanted to fight the biggest lion in the company Kurt Angle. Kurt’s music played ONCE! No Kurt. It played TWICE! No Kurt (you know what’s coming). Storm sends a camera man to the back to see where the man who placed 22 in the BBC3 Top 100 Olympic Moments is. The camera gets to the back to see four or five of the Skeleton Heads giving Kurt a doing over. They aren’t prejudice, this lot. Looking at this, Bound For Glory could have Kurt, Sting, Hogan and a few others wrestling the Aces in a big Nexus vs. WWE style match. -Samoa Joe comes out and calls out the The Pope. Pope and Joe go about eight minutes. Better than the matches that had every week for a year about 18 months ago. Joe beat him clean with a arm bar to gain 10 points. Joe looked like he lost a tooth. He kept putting his finger in the inside of his cheeks and looked in agony post match. Decent stuff. -Jason Hervy from the Wonder Years is grilling Bobby Roode about calling Austin Aries out and asking if he had anything to do with the attack on Hogan last week. Roode stormed off. The camera does a close up of a smirking Hervy doing the “these guys” shoulder shrug. -Jeff Hardy makes his entrance and is about to call someone out. Before he can get the words out, Robbie E and Robbie T makes their way down the aisle, in lovely red cardigans. The fans never get louder than when Hardy comes out. The people are so into him. Robbie T kept interfering, so Jeff gave him a pasting on the outside and what do you know? Robbie E gained a count out victory? Robbie went over! Both Robs looked chuffed. “We did it, bro!” He said. Good for him. -Eric Young and ODB did a spot of comedy plugging EY’s new show. It wasn’t very funny. -After the break we have the Gut Check Challenge. Some bloke called Sam Shaw cut a generic as fuck promo. Then the Aces and Eights run in and smack this bloke about. Give him a good kicking. The big Luke Gallows looking bloke especially getting stuck in. If there was ever a Gut Check I wanted to see someone get wiped out it was this one. Got bad vibes from this lad. Looked and sounded like a waste of time. The fact they interrupted the Gut Check just got those Joey Ryan rumours started again. Would make sense if he is one of them. Al Snow, Brother Love and Taz helped Sam to the back. -Mr. Anderson and AJ Styles had match, where Anderson won. Anderson looks awful. Cant believe he won. To make matters worse, Claire Lynch came out. She wasn’t to bad this week. She said something AJ getting pissed and shagging her. AJ said “never happened, love”. She then showed pictures of AJ on the bed with her lying next to him. AJ was out cold on the pictures so AJ was probably out of it, drugged or something. She’s up to something. I still think Hervy is fucking her. -Bellator announcer Sean Wheelock embarrassed Taz and Tenay when he joined the commentary table for the RVD and Daniels match. He said on a Figure 4 Daily interview he wouldn’t mind doing some commentary on Impact, so he got his wish. He smoked Taz and Tenays arses. He was passionate, excited and seemed to know what he was talking about. And when he was plugging Bellator he kept mentioning TNA or wrestling with in it (“I hope these Aces and Eights guys don’t invade Bellator” etc.). It was odd to hear a voice on the Impact announce team that didn’t sound like a zombie. Daniels won by the way. -Austin Aries did a good little interview backstage where he said Bobby Roode’s title win was a fluke. He carries himself so well. Aries is great. When he picked his World title belt up, there was some playing cards underneath it. Aries didn’t seem to worried. -Brooke Hogan was on the phone with Mike Tenay and Taz. Lasted 30 seconds. Strange as fuck. She just said “he’s in a bad way, I don’t want to talk about it” and then said “bye”. -Joseph Park was asking Garrett if he needed any legal representation. When Garrett quizzed Joseph about last week, Joseph didn’t know what he was talking about. He left pretty sharpe. -Magnus and Bully Ray were the last two in the Open Fight Night BFG series. Bully got a quick start in, by attacking Magus on his way to the ring. Magnus has improved a shit load. He had a good match with the Bully. They don’t do enough with Magnus. Bully won this one, which was about right. He hardly ever wins. Enjoyed it. -Vignette played for the debut of Chavo Guerrero next week. -Bobby Roode came out for the final segment of the show. He had his nice Terry Taylor robe on. He called Aries out and they actually had a match. I thought Aries would have been laid out, but no. Really good match as you would expect from these two. It ended in a double DQ (I think) when the Aces and Eights ran out again and gave Aries a doing over. Roode began laughing and saying “that’s my boys”. They then turned on him and gave him a good hiding as well. Confusing end. They need to start giving us a few clues now, because its really getting strange. I don’t know where this leaves Roode (the companies top heel). Is he a face? If not, he just got the shit kicked out of him by a load of heels. Alright show, but not as good as Raw this week. Open Fight Nights are usually filled with a million matches to fit in all the BFG competitors, which isn’t convenient. Hopefully normal service will resume next week. Still worth a look, though.
iamtheman Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 yeah didn't feel it this week. ending was a bit obvious. "so bobby roode's behind the aces and 8's" "oh wait no he's not". my stream conked out for most of the main event so i'll have to watch it again. only saw about two minutes my favourite parts were robbie's victory, daniels drinking appletini's, bully ray trying to get an appletini off daniels, bully finally winning a match and i couldn't stop laughing at the AJ photos. they were really funny. poor AJ got roofied. gutcheck guy looked super generic so we have that to "look forward" next week, i was hoping theywere just going to evaluate him next week any way and have a go at his selling
Paid Members WWFChilli Posted July 20, 2012 Paid Members Posted July 20, 2012 Good episode, not a blockbuster ep, but it fleshed out Aces and 8's a bit more. All good by me. TNA is still on a roll.
Paid Members FLips Posted July 20, 2012 Paid Members Posted July 20, 2012 Really didn't enjoy it this week, at all. I want to say mainly because they had this awkward tiny ring, so the matches felt a bit stuck. Pope was the drizzling shits, as were ODB and Eric Young. I understand they're trying to get the Aces & Eights over as a sort of Nexus-y force, but imagine you went to see Impact live last night. You didn't get Kurt Angle, James Storm, Gut Check, Sting, Hogan, Jeff Hardy got counted out after a couple of minutes, and the main event ended in a double DQ. Then all the matches that did happen took place in this shitty little ring. If they pay for tickets now I bet a few feel a bit let down, I would.
NEWM Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 What's the deal with this small ring then? Was it not just usual the Impact Zone ring? I know that's a bit smaller obviously, you make it sound like they had something different to the norm.

I know that's a bit smaller obviously, you make it sound like they had something different to the norm. Fuck me. I just got a stream up to get a picture of it and it's fucking back to normal size! Me and my mate are proper confused because when we watched it last night we saw this proper tiny ring that they were getting across in a few steps. We spent most the night taking the piss out of it because it looked like something you'd hire for a kid's birthday. Now on the videos the ring is about the right size and we don't know what we watched last night We are really really confused by this. Ignore what I've said.
NEWM Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I'll be watching Sunday night with a fucking tape measure. If I catch so much as an centimetres difference, I'll be insisting upon your immediate banning from this forum.
ozzfan Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 While it was probably the worst show they've done since going live, it wasn't a terrible show by any means. Bully Ray got a well deserved win, Magnus looked mint and the Aces & 8's and the AJ/Claire/Daniels storylines were advanced.
pgi86 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Btw, just as an interesting note: Nick Dinsmore had a tryout match last night.
FUM Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I still didn't skip any of it at all which is a change from how I've been with wrestling in general recently. TNA has me hooked right enough and I'm watching each show from start to finish. While, not as good as it has been, I felt it was still a fun little show. Also don't agree that the ending was confusing. They were beating down Aries, to which Roode thought, "Great, I've got these guys behind me." So he goes to join forces with them as the snide little heel bitch he is, they then think, "Who the fuck is this guy?" Then of course, Roode, is beaten down. The guys are sending a warning out to TNA that they don't care who you are, they will take you out if you work in the company and I think the message is going to end up mainly to Hulk Hogan and Dixie Carter.
Cobra1000 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 The lad with the long blonde-ish hair and vest jacket looks badass. Not quite up to the standards of the last few weeks, but it was still good (minus Claire - AJ, how hilariously bad were those photos!) I enjoyed a load of the matches, The BFG Series is really really interesting, Joe is on the rampage with the submissions and theres plenty of other stuff there to keep us occupied. Personally, loved the ending, Bobby Roode got a kicking that was coming to him for most of the year, though next week he probably shouldnt act for revenge and just remain fearful off them always trying to buy them off to keep his heelish stature. Anyway hopefully next week we'll get a bit of a reveal or something.... And TripleA I dont think they charge people for Impact, do they? They arent allowed to or something cause its in Universal. Could be wrong now what with it being live and stuff.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted July 20, 2012 Author Paid Members Posted July 20, 2012 I don't think its any coincidence that the two worst shows since they went live have been the Open Fight Night thing. Shoving so much into two hours is very much the old TNA. Especially when you are so focused on getting this heel act over. Next week should return to normalcy, since they aren't committed to having all their BFG series wrestlers fight on one show.
SSJLogan Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Shame we didn't get to see Storm vs Angle but Ray vs Magnus was very good. I'd kind of just like to know who Aces and 8s are now. Hopefully it wont be Hogans idea of a new 'n.w.o' with loads of people joining after the reveal. And im hoping its not lead by Bischoff, i dont want anymore Hogan vs Bischoff stuff. The Styles storyline just needs to be dropped dead. For me personally its not going anywhere or exciting anyone. Also, can someone help me out, during the main event the crowd were chanting something, for me it sounded like 'We Want TShirts'. Does anyone know what they were actually saying?
Forrest Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 And TripleA I dont think they charge people for Impact, do they? They arent allowed to or something cause its in Universal. Could be wrong now what with it being live and stuff. That's correct. I went a couple of weeks ago to the live tapings and they don't charge, it was still free.
King Pitcos Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 That's correct. I went a couple of weeks ago to the live tapings and they don't charge, it was still free. ?
